About the role:
Samsara is looking for an Instructional Designer II to ensure that our Global Customer & Technical Support teams’ learning content is designed for learner engagement and delivering measurable impacts to the business. This role will have an immediate impact on both the agent and customer experience for a growing 24x7 global support team.
You will work closely with other members of the Support L&D team, support leadership, support agents, and other teams within Samsara to create learning experiences that drive world class support for our customers.
The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of adult learning theory, training & facilitation best practices, and the demonstrated ability to create learning content using a variety of tools and content media. The role reports to the Support Learning & Development Manager and sits on the Support Operations team, which is responsible for Service and Operational Excellence for Samsara’s Global Support organization.

In this role, you will:
- Design creative and engaging training solutions across multiple Global Support functions and audiences including technical/ non-technical roles, and leadership that meet the requirements provided by program managers
- Author-written course content, including instructional/facilitation guides, scripts for videos, learning activities, and assessment questions that measure and enhance retention
- Create learning assets across a variety of media including e-learn, video, audio, interactive workshops with instructor guides, hands-on learning exercises, and assessments
- Obtain feedback and sign off from stakeholders and subject matter experts
- Evaluate and measure the impact of delivered learning initiatives, and quickly iterate to drive continuous improvement
- Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices
Minimum requirements for the role:
- 2+ years of instructional design experience, preferably in technical or finance fields
- Excellent written and verbal skills in English & Spanish, with a specific focus on communicating complicated concepts in easy-to-understand formats, customized for each learning audience
- Ability to quickly learn new technical skills and processes
- Demonstrated skills in creating engaging learning content in a variety of formats including e-learning, video, audio, interactive assets, and technical documentation
- Strong problem-solving mentality
- Detail-oriented with an eye for quality & accuracy
- Stellar organization skills, lending to the ability to manage multiple assignments at the same time
- Experience with basic LMS functionality
An ideal candidate also has:
- Instructional Design or technical certifications or degree
- Experience in a high-growth startup, with a comfort for ambiguity, bonus points for IoT or SaaS experience
- Familiarity and curiosity for using AI tools to develop learning content for a fast-paced and changing environment
