Description
The Show
The Journal is a daily narrative news podcast made in partnership between Spotify Studios and the Wall Street Journal. Each day, we tell one important news story in 15-20 minutes. Our show focuses on money and business, applying those lenses to general news or zooming in on business stories that other outlets do not tell. We have covered everything from the popularity of Zyn, the resurrection of Abercrombie and the many businesses of Elon Musk. We’ve published revealing investigations into Facebook and the telehealth company Cerebral alongside the Wall Street Journal’s print paper.
The Role
Both an editorial and management position, this is a leadership role on The Journal. This supervising editor will help producers and hosts shape daily episodes from the idea phase through final mix notes. They will oversee, edit, and project manage narrative series as needed. At the same time, they will be a manager and guide for producers growing in their careers. This person should be experienced in narrative storytelling, enthusiastic about working on tight deadlines, passionate about news, and excited about providing consistent and holistic feedback. While this role is set for normal work hours, it also requires flexibility and openness to weekend and after-hours work.
