Strategic Communications Manager, Enterprise Change & Transformation

Austin, TX
Software Development

Let’s face it, a company whose mission is human transformation better have some fresh thinking about the employer/employee relationship.

We do. We can’t cram it all in here, but you’ll start noticing it from the first interview.

Even our candidate experience is different. And when you get an offer from us (and accept it), you get way more than a paycheck. You get a personal BetterUp Coach, a development plan, a trained and coached manager, the most amazing team you’ve ever met (yes, each with their own personal BetterUp Coach), and most importantly, work that matters.

This makes for a remarkably focused and fulfilling work experience. Frankly, it’s not for everyone. But for people with fire in their belly, it’s a game-changing, career-defining, soul-lifting move.

Join us and we promise you the most intense and fulfilling years of your career, doing life-changing work in a fun, inventive, soulful culture.

If that sounds exciting—and the job description below feels like a fit—we really should start talking.

The Opportunity

At BetterUp, we're building a new kind of partnership with our enterprise clients — one that drives deep, lasting transformation. The key to any transformation that sticks is strong change management, and that's where you come in.

As one of the first Strategic Communications Managers, Enterprise Change & Transformation, you'll play a central role in making that transformation real. Embedded within BetterUp's go-to-market organization, you'll work alongside account teams to co-create change management strategies that ensure the right people are prepared at the right time with the right messages — at every level of the client organization. You'll design communications strategies that build belief, inspire action, and sustain momentum. And you'll craft the language that makes all of it land.

This role is about leading change through communications — not just delivering messages, but shaping the story that makes change possible. It's for someone who thinks like a change leader and writes like a storyteller. This is not a back-office, post-sale support role. This is a front-line, high-trust, high-impact seat.

What you’ll do

  • Lead change communications strategy for major enterprise deployments, designing narratives and messaging architectures that inspire adoption and alignment.

  • Translate complex business and talent challenges into clear, compelling change narratives — and advise on how to keep the momentum going.

  • Build trust and influence across senior stakeholders, acting as a thought partner, advisor, and driver of change.

  • Map stakeholders and cascade paths, identifying champions and skeptics, and designing strategies that build trust across complex organizations.

  • Develop and deliver campaigns across multiple channels (email, live events, digital platforms, executive forums) with quality and consistency that earns credibility.

  • Equip managers and frontline leaders with toolkits, talking points, and coaching to act as multipliers of change.

  • Sense and adapt in real time—establish listening loops and use insights to refine messaging and interventions.

If you have some or all of the following, please apply

  • 8+ years of experience spanning change management and strategic communications, with demonstrated ability to lead both.

  • Exceptional communications skills and the ability to craft narratives that move hearts and minds — you can think like a consultant and deliver like a storyteller.

  • Deep experience in change management, organizational transformation, or human capital consulting — ideally in large-scale, global, or matrixed organizations.

  • Strong executive communications skills — experience writing for and advising senior leaders, including tailoring voice and messaging across audiences from C-suite to frontline.

  • Experience coaching and influencing senior stakeholders through transformation, including navigating resistance and reframing approaches when needed.

  • A builder's mindset — you thrive in ambiguity, enjoy writing the playbook, and don't need a big team to get started.

  • Comfort managing intense launch cycles and quieter sustain phases without losing momentum or quality.

  • Builds scalable AI-powered systems that fundamentally change how work gets done across multiple teams

AI at BetterUp

Our team thrives at the intersection of human expertise and AI capability. As an AI-forward company, adaptation and continuous learning are part of our daily work. We're looking for teammates who are excited to evolve alongside technology – people who experiment boldly, share their discoveries openly, and help define best practices for AI-augmented work. These professionals thoughtfully integrate AI into their work to deliver exceptional results while maintaining the human judgment and creativity that drives real innovation. During our interview process, you’ll have opportunities to showcase how you harness AI to learn, iterate, and amplify your impact.

Workforce Policy & Location:

  • We are a hybrid company with a focus on in-person collaboration when necessary. Expected to be available to work from one of our office hubs at least 2 days per week, or 8 days per month.

  • Our US hub locations include: Austin, TX; New York City, NY; San Francisco, CA; and the Washington, DC metro area. Please ensure you can realistically commit to this structure before applying.
