Overview: The Staff Software Engineer is a fast-paced position in a rapid growth enterprise environment. The Software Engineering team designs, builds, and maintains the software, hardware, network, and computing technologies that power all of Inovalon’s SAAS services. We are the foundation upon which Inovalon’s innovations are built, from high octane data analytics horsepower to insightful healthcare data solutions that will change the future.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work as part of a global, cross-functional team to build and operate innovative services/platforms for Inovalon applications.
- Work with product management to scope and estimate product enhancements.
- Make design/architectural decisions for the new and existing services/systems.
- Lead design/code reviews with other engineers.
- Take ownership of problems and continuously strive to become a better problem solver.
- Write and maintain documentation to describe program development, logic, coding, testing, changes, and corrections.
- Fix software defects (internal or customer reported) following defined process.
- Scope of work is typically at the service/feature level.
- Actively foster continuous team improvement in self and team.
- Contribute to team retrospectives; Help to identify and resolve team impediments.
- Maintain compliance with Inovalon’s policies, procedures and mission statement;
- Adhere to all confidentiality and HIPAA requirements as outlined within Inovalon’s Operating Policies and Procedures in all ways and at all times with respect to any aspect of the data handled or services rendered in the undertaking of the position; and
- Fulfill those responsibilities and/or duties that may be reasonably provided by Inovalon for the purpose of achieving operational and financial success of the Employer.
Job Requirements:
- Minimum 8+ years’ experience of related professional experience, prior software engineering experience preferred.
- 2+ years’ experience with leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new or existing services/systems
- Excellent programming skills in any object-oriented programming languages - preferably Java, C/C++/C#, or Python.
- Experiences working with both SQL
- Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and designing for performance, scalability, and availability.
- Experience working with managed services in public cloud like AWS, Azure
- Experience working with SaaS technologies.
- Familiarity with Containers and Kubernetes will be a plus.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, technical field, or equivalent experience.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Sedentary work (i.e., sitting for long periods of time);
- Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force;
- Frequently or constantly to lift, carry push, pull or otherwise move objects and repetitive motions;
- Subject to inside environmental conditions; and
- Travel for this position will include less than 5% locally usually for training purposes.
