POSITION SUMMARY:
Natera is currently seeking a Lead/Staff Bioinformatics Scientist to join our Bioinformatics Research Team with a focus on cancer early detection. Natera’s mission is to change the management of disease worldwide by using information gained from a simple blood draw to detect disease early and proactively inform treatment. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in algorithm development, epigenetics, sequencing data processing, and applied machine learning. The individual will develop novel algorithms to analyze large and complex genomics data sets and detect cancers earlier.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design, implement, and validate innovative algorithms and statistical methods to analyze large-scale data sets based on insights in cancer biology and genomics
- Collaborate with molecular biologists and clinical scientists to devise creative research strategies that solve challenging problems in oncology and answer specific biological questions
- Contribute to experimental design and quality control
QUALIFICATIONS:
- PhD in Bioinformatics, Genomics, Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, or related field, with 10-15 years of post-PhD experience
- Highly experienced in developing state-of-the-art algorithms and/or machine learning methods
- Experience in analyzing sequencing data from cell-free DNA assays
- Experience in Python
- Experience using Linux command-line tools and writing shell scripts
- Ability to clearly visualize findings and summarize results in oral and written form
- High scientific rigor and eagerness to teach and learn about new computational methods and biology
