Sr. Director, Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management

The strategic sourcing and supplier management team is responsible for all aspects of indirect sourcing and supplier management operations including supplier segmentation, supplier strategy, strategic sourcing, contracting, and supplier relationship management to ensure alignment with organizational objectives and goals. The team collaborates with cross functional teams such as Procure-to-Pay, Accounting, Finance, Legal, Security, Compliance, and other business stakeholders.

The Sr. Director of Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management will lead critical sourcing and supplier facing indirect procurement functions, manage process and support technology transformation, and drive operational excellence across the organization. This position requires strategic vision, strong leadership skills, and a deep understanding of procurement best practices. This role reports into the Chief Accounting Officer and can be hybrid or remote.

 

What you’ll do:

  • Oversee Critical Sourcing and Supplier Facing Procurement Functions: Lead and oversee all aspects of indirect sourcing and supplier management operations, including supplier segmentation, supplier strategy, strategic sourcing, contracting, and supplier relationship management to ensure alignment with organizational objectives and goals. Collaborate with cross functional department heads such as Purchasing/Procurement, Accounting, Finance, Legal, Security, Compliance, and business stakeholders to successfully execute on sourcing initiatives and optimize supplier relationships.
  • Indirect Spend Management: Develop strategies and tactics to optimize indirect spend categories, achieve cost savings, and mitigate risks while maintaining quality and service levels.
  • Category Management: Develop and implement category management strategies to optimize spend, drive innovation, and achieve business objectives. Create and define category strategies to enable Pinterest’s strategic spending at scale and design/ideate on optimized category buying channels to increase compliance in the purchasing process.
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to drive innovation, ensure compliance, and optimize supplier performance. Establish scalable and digitally enabled supplier relationship management processes/policies that improve supplier resiliency, performance, and enable reporting capabilities for performance management, sustainability, equity, and diversity.
  • Implement and Curate a Preferred Supplier Program: Define and execute a preferred supplier program to consolidate vendor relationships, leverage economies of scale, and drive cost efficiencies.
  • Manage OLA/SLA and Critical Handoffs: Ensure effective management of operational level agreements (OLA) and service level agreements (SLA) across in-scope functions of the procurement value chain to optimize efficiency and performance.
  • Process and Technology Transformation: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline supplier facing procurement processes, enhance efficiency, improve cost-to-serve, and ensure compliance with industry standards. Support the evaluation, selection, and implementation of procurement technologies to optimize automation, enhance visibility, and drive data-driven decision-making.
  • People Development: Develop and mentor team members to build a high-performing and agile organization capable of delivering strategic value.
  • Expanding Impact Across the Organization: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for procurement to add value and drive strategic initiatives across the organization.Engage with business units to understand their procurement needs, align strategies, and drive value-added partnerships.
  • Improving User Experience: Enhance the procurement request and fulfillment process to improve user experience for requesters in the business units, driving adoption and compliance.

 

What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field. Master's degree or equivalent degree preferred.
  • 10 - 15 years of experience in indirect procurement, with a focus on strategy, operations, and transformation.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading or supporting procurement process and technology transformation initiatives in a large-scale organization, preferably in tech industry or similar.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Extensive knowledge of procurement best practices, supplier management, and contract negotiation.
  • Strategic mindset, with the ability to think critically, solve complex problems, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Certification in procurement (e.g., CSCP, CPIM, CPSM) is a plus.
