Job Description
We are looking for a Solutions Engineer to join our rapidly growing team. You will be responsible for helping customers design, implement, and manage their Tailscale deployment to ensure their business objectives are met. You will work closely with Tailscale’s Sales and Customer Success teams to provide technical expertise and collaborate with Marketing, Product, and Support as needed.

Responsibilities:
- Work closely with our Sales team to identify new opportunities and help close deals
- Communicate Tailscale’s value based on customer inputs and with work the Sales team to identify and resolve issues and concerns
- Provide technical expertise in the form of sales presentations, demonstrations, and supporting proof-of-concepts
- Provide feedback to Product and Engineering teams on customer needs and product improvements
- Own technical engagement with customers from pre-sales to deployment/implementation. Maintain ongoing relationships post-deployment
- Stay up-to-date on the latest cloud, network, and security technologies and trends
- Experience in a devtool software company (Nice to Have)
- Experience in network security (Nice to Have)
- Experience working in a software startup environment (Nice to Have)
- Experience writing project plans collaboratively with customers (Nice to Have)
Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience in a technical, customer-facing role such as a Solutions Engineer, Sales Engineer, or similar
- Demonstrated success working at a startup with multiple priorities and projects
- Passionate about working with the sales team on presales initiatives, leveraging technical expertise to craft compelling and customized demonstrations, proof of concepts, and presentations that effectively communicate the value of our solutions to prospective clients
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Experience in systems administration and troubleshooting: Linux, Mac, or Windows
- Familiar with networking and security concepts
- Desire to learn programming/scripting skills in Bash, Go, TypeScript, HCL, etc.
