About The Role
You'll lead a team of 5-7 engineers working in a Ruby on Rails stack to design and build all the back end support needed for core features of our sales and marketing team. You’ll play a key role in setting the technical goals and strategy for delivering our consumer products. Our organization values clear communication, transparency, and collaboration. We’re a Chicago-based company looking for candidates willing to come into our downtown office 2-3 days a week. What You’ll Do
- Design and build our internal-facing API’s, asynchronous back end processing, and third-party integrations using Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, and AWS
- Work with our devops team to ensure our CI/CD pipeline built with CircleCI, Jenkins, and AWS tooling fits our growing needs.
- Lead technical planning and roadmap delivery in support of our company's creditor-facing negotiation operation.
- Work with the leadership team to produce and deliver the engineering roadmap
- Mentor engineers and sponsor them for the right projects to deliver the best product while growing their skillset
- Offer constructive and respectful feedback via code reviews
- Identify and promote engineering best practices
- Advise leadership team on technical feasibility and implications of product decisions
- Design and execute a recruiting strategy to build and maintain a high-performing engineering team
What We Look For
- At least 2 years of Experience managing engineering teams
- 5+ years of experience building and deploying scalable applications in the cloud
- Hands-on expertise with Ruby on Rails.
- Expertise in scoping large projects and initiatives into small iterations for release
- Clear and efficient communication skills
- Previous experience working in a fast-paced environment preferred
- Mentorship skills and the ability to give well-crafted constructive feedback
