Job Description
NBCUniversal is seeking a motivated and skilled Software Engineer to join our Corporate Technology team. Our ideal candidate has a background in React or AngularJS, experience with Express or Node and a passion for transforming legacy applications into maintainable and modern solutions.
In this role, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining web applications focused on serving employees and functions of NBCUniversal while striving to modernize our software portfolio. You will work closely with leaders from engineering, architecture and product to translate the needs of the business into solutions using principled and well-designed technical solutions.
This position is on our HR Workforce Team servicing HR Operations in the Operations & Technology department.
This role will work primarily on the internal facing application for NBC Universal employees to maintain their pay stubs, withholding, HR tools and more via a hybrid portal/administration tool.
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
- 2+ years of professional experience developing web applications
- Proficiency with modern frameworks and JavaScript-first web solutions
- Demonstrated ability to problem solve technical issues and communicate root causes for these issues effectively
- Ability to work well within a team environment
- Experience with Node.js or Express
- Knowledge and proficiency with AWS
Desired Characteristics:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in CS or a related field
- Knowledge and comfort with Agile development methodologies
- Experience working remotely and with widely distributed teams
- Ability to effectively document work via JIRA
