Five9 is actively looking for a full-time Senior Technical Writer, API to join our Product Content & Operations documentation team to develop high-quality API and SDK content. Five9 is constantly working to modernize our application platforms, and we need an API documentation expert to help us modernize how we write and deliver developer documentation. This person will play a critical role as we replace documentation for legacy web services with REST API content. This position is open to qualified applicants within the United States, with occasional travel to our San Ramon, CA headquarters. Candidates residing within 50 miles of our San Ramon, CA or San Francisco, CA offices are required to be in the office three days a week (Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays).
Responsibilities:
- Organize, write, and maintain customer-facing developer content for Five9 APIs.
- Influence API specification design and standards used by developers.
- Manage revisions to existing API documentation and create documentation for new APIs or new use cases.
- Manage all aspects of API documentation projects from estimation to delivery.
- Participate as needed in creating and maintaining high-quality user and administrator documentation for Five9 products.
- Learn and use the Five9 software of assigned products.
- Ensure that deliverables conform to the company style.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience documenting, testing, and developing API documentation.
- Extensive portfolio of superior writing examples that you are prepared to discuss.
- Proven experience in documenting REST APIs, influencing API design, and writing code examples to validate API documentation.
- Familiarity with API documentation tools such as Swagger/OpenAPI, Postman, or similar.
- Proven technical, writing, and oral communication expertise.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Proven expertise in working with authoring tools such as MadCap Flare or Adobe Robohelp.
- Experience with Agile project management and source control tools, such as Jira and GitLab.
- Experience with contact center technology, hosted software products, and VoIP are a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
