The MongoDB Query Team is hiring a product manager who wants to join us in developing a fast and modular distributed query engine, user friendly query interface and a flexible query system which can handle different types of workloads from all data services at MongoDB. As the product manager, you will advocate for our customers, define the roadmap and customer requirements, identify opportunities and prioritize product backlogs for the query system improvement.
You will also work with stakeholders from other products and services to understand and coordinate the requirements and release schedules, ensuring each initiative delivers maximum impact to customers across our data platform. You will help plan what we build and when, and be a strong partner with engineering leadership. There are also opportunities to work directly with teams outside R&D on our documentation, GTM strategies and customer engagement.
Requirements
- 5+ years of product management experience
- Demonstrated success of delivering software products to market
- The ability to communicate complex technical issues simply and convincingly to a wide range of audiences
- Experienced in successfully delivering complex cross-functional projects
- Deep domain knowledge in at least one of the following: database query engine, query languages (SQL, MQL, etc.), distributed systems, user interfaces design
- Ability to write, defend, and execute on business cases
- Ability to effectively represent the needs of customers across industries
- "B.Sc. in technical discipline, Computer Science preferred, or relevant experience
Nice to have
- Experience with MongoDB or other non-relational databases
- Demonstrated success in leading a product that targets developers
- Demonstrated success as a product manager on a fast-paced, growing team
- Self-starter who enjoys challenges across a broad range of disciplines
- Familiarity with open source and cloud technologies
- MBA, M.Sc. or Ph.D. in relevant domains
Success Measures
- In 3 months you will be fully versed in the MongoDB Data Platform and all of its component parts
- In 6 months you will understand and be able to clearly communicate the needs of the stakeholders you will be working with
- In 9 months you will be using that understanding to direct the engineering roadmap and ensure the successful release and use of new features by our customers
