Overview: The Senior PowerBI Developer will support the newest line of Inovalon's product portfolio as a member of our data visualization and BI team. This role will focus on the migration of legacy data to PowerBI, in addition to adding a self-service tool for customers in the future.
Job Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports that provide clear, intuitive, actionable insights.
- Interpret business needs and translate them into requirements and KPIs.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to integrate user feedback into dashboards and reports.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and strategies with a data-driven approach.
- Provide training and support to business users on Power BI and other BI tools.
- Utilize scripting and querying tools like SQL, Python or R, data visualization/BI tools, statistical methods, and data modeling to produce reports, data files, and dashboards.
- Design and build visualizations and dashboards in collaboration with clinical teams to support product enhancement and development.
- Create and maintain documentation of processes.
- Adhere to all confidentiality, HIPAA, regulatory, and other such policies, procedures, and requirements as outlined within Employer’s Operating Policies and Procedures in all ways and at all times with respect to any aspect of the data handled or services rendered in the scope of work.
- Maintain compliance with Inovalon’s policies, procedures and mission statement, and fulfill those responsibilities and/or duties that may be reasonably provided by Inovalon for the purpose of achieving operational and financial success.
Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a BI or Dashboard Developer
- Strong experience with Power BI, including building visualizations, data modeling, caching, security, performance
- Experience in SQL, T-SQL, SQL Server
- Experience in PowerBI report performance tuning, testing and deployment of dashboards & reports
- Familiarity with data visualization best practices and principles.
- Strong analytical mind with a problem-solving aptitude
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
- SQL Mastery: You're the anchor when it comes to SQL, the one everyone turns to when grappling with complex database queries. Your deep understanding and expertise in SQL make you indispensable in unraveling data mysteries and extracting valuable insights. Strong expertise in writing SQL Queries
- Data Visualization Tools: PowerBI (experience with Logi or Tableau as well is a plus);
- Healthcare Insight: Experience in the healthcare sector adds a valuable dimension to your skill set. You are familiar and experienced in wrangling large data sets and familiar with the unique challenges of the field.
- Data Communicator and Storyteller: Your proficiency extends beyond technical prowess; you excel in translating complex data concepts into clear, actionable insights. Your ability to communicate effectively ensures that stakeholders grasp the significance of the data and its implications.
- Relational Databases and Warehousing: You are knowledgeable about relational databases and data warehousing concepts.
- Public Cloud Knowledge: You have experience in AWS and Azure data services.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Information Technology.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Sedentary work (i.e. sitting for long periods of time).
- Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force.
- Subject to inside environmental conditions.
- Travel for this position will include less than 10% locally usually for training purposes.
