Senior Manager, Health Policy

About This Role

Reporting to the Director, Market Access, Policy, & Reimbursement, this position is responsible for actively supporting iRhythm’s efforts to expand favorable access to its Zio Services through updates to medical policy. This individual will support the execution of coverage policy updates including for currently marketed as well as pipeline products.

Role Responsibilities

The Senior Manager Health Policy will support access strategies including coverage, coding, and payment policies for the current marketed and pipeline product across all lines of business (CMS, Commercial, FFS and Managed Medicaid).

Market and Policy Analysis

  • Analyze the market in terms of coverage and reimbursement, existing and emerging payer policies, competitive landscape, trends, and potential barriers to provider and patient access.
  • Ensure Health Policy priorities are clearly defined, aligned with, and communicated to the Business and relevant partners.
  • Monitor policy developments relative to coding, coverage, and payment for business products/solutions.
  • Support drafting of comment letters, policy briefs, publications, and other persuasive communications and resources to support policy objectives.
  • Leverage advanced analytics, to generate actionable insights and recommendations that inform Market Access and reimbursement.
  • Works closely with forecasting teams to model anticipated impact of policy updates and overall access strategies over short and long term.

Cross Functional Team and External Engagement

  • Partner with the Director, Market Access, Policy, & Reimbursement; HEOR Team; Payer Marketing, and Payer Relations in the creation of proactive, actionable advice and counsel to the business on access and policy considerations in the areas of US health policy and reimbursement as a valued business partner.
  • Work with HEOR and Clinical Affairs to ensure study protocols collect and appropriate outcome measures to support coverage expansion and that evidence plans are proactively developed. Also work to ensure HEOR plans support market access (models, value dossiers, claims analysis, etc.)
  • Create materials for regular updates to Executive Leadership that address changes in the ecosystem.
  • Support the team in their engagement with external stakeholders, including thought leaders, professional associations, policy forums, leveraging the knowledge and insights of the external policy- and decision-makers.

Candidate Background

  • Degree in public health, public policy, medicine, pharmacy, life sciences, economics, or epidemiology.
  • A postgraduate degree such as Masters, MPH, or PhD in Public Health, Health Policy, Healthcare Administration is a bonus
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in health policy, HEOR, preferably in MedTech, public policy
  • In-depth background in the analysis of federal government processes, laws, and regulations, particularly Medicare Part B and Part D required
  • Strong understanding of coverage in public programs, including Medicare and Medicaid, required. Knowledge of Affordable Care Act coverage requirements required.
  • Demonstration of substantial policy writing required; Exceptional analytical skills.
  • Strong understanding of global payer markets, market access issues, with demonstrable track record.
  • Ability to present work across channels and platforms
  • Proven ability to contribute to a team and deliver results on time with available resources, within budget.
  • Proven ability to work on multiple projects and with multiple individuals simultaneously.
  • Proven ability to maintain high quality output.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills along with the ability to effectively present technical data and complex concepts to diverse audiences
  • Ability to apply knowledge of healthcare systems, global health technology appraisals requirements, and clinical development, to identify evidence gaps and propose evidence generation strategies
  • A track record of success functioning in dynamic, matrix environments with the ability to multitask seamlessly
  • Strong attention to detail and quality focused
  • A strong track record of publishing in peer reviewed scientific journals and presenting at scientific meetings
