We're looking for a Senior Illustrator & Animator to craft elegant, premium 3D illustration and animation, visual design, and motion elements that support and enhance our users’ experiences. You have a desire to tell stories through your craft and drive that vision with clear, delightful moving illustration and interactive experiences. You think holistically of the end-to-end experience with an enthusiastic advocacy for design excellence. As part of the Design System team, you will define and design the interaction, motion, and illustrative patterns that are used throughout our product experience.
What You’ll Do

- Craft motion & interaction behaviors & animations to support our experiences & delight our users
- Work with Design Leadership & Design System team to define visual style
- Design visually compelling illustrations & iconography
- Collaborate with designers to provide illustration & animation support on a high-impact, complex, & ambiguous assortment of user flows
- Partner with Design System team to define & communicate motion design guidelines, best practices, and standards
- Partner with engineers to ensure designs scale, reduce latency, and are implemented as intended
- Support growth of design system component libraries as needed
- Advocate & build the craft of illustration, animation, & motion Design at Affirm
- Foster an inclusive environment
What We Look For

- 4+ years experience in interaction design/motion/animation/3D and / or illustration experience in a product-driven environment
- Ability to sketch, conceptualize, and storyboard motion and illustration concepts in appropriate design tools
- High proficiency with Figma, Adobe Suite (including animating for UI & digital experiences), and prototyping tools
- Highly proficient with 3D modeling/texturing and 2D animation tools
- A visual design portfolio that demonstrates thorough experience in Design Systems/component libraries and strategic thinking across multiple product & platform experiences
- Accountability, self-sufficiency, and thoughtfulness
- Passionate about better ways to improve personal finance through technology
Pay Grade - L
Equity Grade - 8
Employees new to Affirm typically come in at the start of the pay range. Affirm focuses on providing a simple and transparent pay structure which is based on a variety of factors, including location, experience and job-related skills.
Base pay is part of a total compensation package that may include equity rewards, monthly stipends for health, wellness and tech spending, and benefits (including 100% subsidized medical coverage, dental and vision for you and your dependents.)
USA base pay range (CA, WA, NY, NJ, CT) per year: $160,000 - $210,000
USA base pay range (all other U.S. states) per year: $142,000 - $192,000
