Senior Director, Issuing Strategy

We seek an experienced, driven, and detail-oriented Sr. Director of Issuing Strategy  to lead a center of excellence focused on codifying best practices and advising customers on how to ramp up their card program. You will have responsibility across accounts, maintaining a single-minded focus to ensure customers extract the most value from their investment. The leader of this team would own rewards & loyalty consulting and GTM program strategy. 

This role will interface with some of the most iconic businesses, from rising startups building their business and differentiated customer experiences from scratch to large enterprises undergoing significant transformation and enabling new customer engagement journeys.

The business owner will have a track record in building and running successful card marketing campaigns with compelling value propositions for cardholder acquisition, retention, and engagement.

What You’ll Do

  • Research and implement the most impactful projects to improve the customers’ cardholder acquisition and retention plan.
  • Advise and guide our customers’ marketing strategy, helping them build and measure integrated marketing plans that drive growth.
  • Work cross-functionally to build Marqeta’s rewards and loyalty strategy, working with product teams to develop the customer’s solutions.
  • Own performance analytics across Marqeta’s customers to monitor success in time to market and portfolio growth. 
  • Identifying & executing tests of existing solutions,  in partnership with analytics partners to assist in account planning for expansion strategy
  • Future areas of opportunity include offering marketing services to Co-Brand partners, building a CDP, developing a propensity scoring model for all MQ-powered card holders, and delivering both traditional and digital marketing services as a profit center for the company.

What We’re Looking For

  •  A minimum of 15 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 12 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 8 years experience; or equivalent experience. With at least 10+ years of  experience in enterprise Card Program marketing roles
  • A self-starter who is solution-focused, results-driven, organized, can simultaneously drive multiple projects, and appreciates the details.
  • Strategic thinker and problem solver with the ability to translate business strategies into actionable delivery plans
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and synthesize large amounts of quantitative and qualitative data to tell a story about channel trends and results. In-depth experience with core data analytics and reporting and exceptional communication skills (written and oral)
  • Experience working with senior executives

Compensation and Benefits

Marqeta is a Flex First company which allows you to choose your best working environment, whether that be from home or at a company office. To support Flex First, we calibrate pay to a competitive value according to working location. Compensation is aligned according to three tiers within the United States:

  • National: A baseline tier that applies to most of the geographic territory of the United States.
  • Premium: Slightly elevated from the National tier, and oriented toward a narrower set of higher cost-of-living areas, such as Los Angeles CA and Seattle WA
  • Premium Plus: A tier for the most expensive working areas, like the San Francisco Bay area and New York City.

When determining salaries, we consider several factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior experience, and work location. The new-hire base salary range for this position is:

  • National: $181,650 - $242,200
  • Premium: $204,375 - $272,500
  • Premium Plus: $227,100 - $302,800
