Be part of a strong, collaborative team dedicated to providing 24/7 support to OpenTable's global data platform. Work with both RDBMS and NoSQL technologies that power the core of our business.
You will be responsible for operations and maintenance across multiple database platforms, including high availability, backups, performance monitoring and optimisation, focusing on PostgreSQL and No SQL technologies such as MongoDB, Redis, and Elastic Search. You will also be supporting a global engineering team providing database design best practices and recommendations.
OpenTable's current platform is primarily based on SQL Server, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and Redis. We are specifically looking for someone with operational experience in PostgreSQL or MongoDB.
Experience with continuous integration and automation tools such as Puppet, as well as strong unix/linux skills are required. This is a senior position on a small, collaborative team. You should have excellent communication skills and be accustomed to working with both developers and users in multiple time zones. Must be able to work independently and without direct supervision.

- 3 years Hands-on operational experience with either MongoDB or PostgreSQL
- Experience managing numerous databases in production, QA, and dev environments. Including installation, configuration, backup, recovery, upgrades, schema changes, etc.
- At least one scripting/automation language such as Ruby (puppet, chef), Python, or Go
- Experience with automation and configuration management at scale
- Experience with MSSql, Redis, or OpenSearch is a plus
- System administration skills in Linux (Ubuntu)
- Proven ability to support software engineers on database design and data modeling as well as optimising queries
- Experience responding to production issues, making recommendations, taking actions, and performing root cause analysis
- Be a member of a weekly 24/7 on-call rotation
- Strong collaboration skills as well as the ability to work independently
