Founded in 2002, we made our mark on the shooter genre with titles such as Painkiller, Bulletstorm, Gears of War: Judgment, and Outriders. We are one of the most experienced Unreal Engine studios in the industry and we are expanding it with in-house solutions called PCF Framework.
Our creative teams are currently working on several exciting titles: Gemini is our new project being developed with Square Enix; Maverick is a Triple-A game developed in collaboration with Microsoft Corporation; Bifrost & Victoria are projects we're growing in the self-publishing model. Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Build Software Engineer to join
our team, specializing in Unreal Engine build improvements. This role focuses on
enhancing the reliability, speed, and efficiency of our build processes. The ideal
candidate will have a strong background in software engineering, with a particular
emphasis on build systems, infrastructure, and Unreal Engine.
1. Improving Build Reliability
- Error Handling and Detection: Enhance our build system's ability to trap and handle errors across various tools and processes, including C# Make, BuildGraphs, FastBuild, and Unreal Cooks. This will involve developing and implementing solutions to detect and react to infrastructure issues promptly and effectively.
2. Build Improvements
- Multi-Process Cooking: Implement and optimize multi-process cooking within our validation build pipeline to significantly speed up the process.
- UBA Implementation: Integrate and evaluate Unreal Build Automation (UBA) within our systems, ensuring it runs smoothly and effectively.
- Microwaving Patches: Investigate and fix the microwaving process to enable the rapid creation of quick patches to builds.
3. Build Support
- Troubleshooting: Provide expert support to the team by troubleshooting and resolving build issues as they arise, ensuring minimal disruption to the development workflow.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other engineers and departments to ensure build processes are efficient and reliable.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on build systems and infrastructure.
- Unreal Engine Expertise: Extensive experience with Unreal Engine, particularly in build processes, cooking, and automation.
- Programming Languages: Proficiency in C#, C++, and other relevant programming languages.
- Build Tools: Strong knowledge of build tools and systems such as BuildGraphs, FastBuild, and Unreal Build Automation.
- Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and fixing issues.
- Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Nice to have:
- Education: Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Azure Experience: Experience with Microsoft Azure is a plus.
- Additional Tools: Familiarity with TeamCity or other build and CI/CD tools and practices.
- Industry Knowledge: Experience in the gaming industry or similar fields
