 About you

As a Senior Android Engineer within the newly formed customer-facing “Referrals” product team, your mission is to leverage your expertise in Android development to enhance and optimize our referral programs: Invita y Gana and Estrellas Baubap. You will play a pivotal role in transforming these programs into a holistic product, driving increased customer adoption, and enabling seamless functionality, scalability, and a delightful user experience within our App and our system, contributing directly to our mission of delivering simple and accessible financial products that enable our customers to create wealth.

Our referral program, Invita y Gana, enables customers to earn monetary rewards for every friend who receives a first loan through their referral link. The program represents an opportunity for our customers to gain extra money to cover their expenses and emergencies. Some customers even refer to it as their job, earning a monthly income through referrals; several of our top participants have won over $300k MXN.

This year, we are on a mission to transform and improve our referral program as a holistic product, grow our active participants, and ensure a 30% share of the new customer acquisition. 

As Android Engineer, these are the challenges that you will help us for solving

• Optimizing User Experience: Work on improving the user experience related to the referral program within the Android app. Refine the UI/UX design to make it more intuitive and engaging for users to participate in the program.
• Enhancing Referral Flow: Analyze the current referral flow within the app and suggest improvements to make it smoother and more seamless for users to refer their friends. This might involve simplifying the referral process, reducing friction points, or adding new features.
• Implementing Tracking and Analytics: Tracking user behavior related to the referral program to understand its effectiveness and identifying areas for improvement. Integrate analytics tools such as Google Analytics into the app to monitor referral activities, track conversion rates, and gather insights for optimization.
• Building API Integration: Collaborate with backend developers to evolve the referral program into a micro-service by creating an API. Design and implement the API endpoints required for the referral program and integrate these endpoints into the Android app to enable communication with the micro-service.
• Testing and Bug Fixing: Continuous testing and debugging are essential to ensure the smooth functioning of the referral program within the Android app. Work on identifying and fixing any bugs or issues that arise and conducting thorough testing to validate new features and enhancements.
• Monitoring Performance: Monitor the referral program's performance within the Android app, set up monitoring tools to track key performance metrics, and provide regular reports on the program's success and areas for improvement.

 Day to day

• Collaborate with product manager, product designer, and other engineers to define requirements, scope, and timelines for new features and enhancements.
• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code in Kotlin, leveraging Android SDK and other relevant libraries and frameworks.
• Conduct code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and mentor junior engineers to foster a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
• Troubleshoot and debug issues reported by users or identified through testing, ensuring timely resolution and minimal disruption to the user experience.
• Participate in sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives to track progress, discuss challenges, and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders to gather feedback, share updates, and align on project goals and priorities.
• Review pull requests of others.

Requirements

• 5+ years developing Android apps
• 4+ years experience with Kotlin
• Jetpack compose
• Kotlin flows
• Material design 3 and unit testing
• Good understanding of software algorithms, patterns, tools, and frameworks.
• Clean Architecture
• Firebase by Google
• Adaptable to constant changes and fast-paced environment.
