The position of Retail Solution Architect / Engineer is critical to our client’s success. For prospects and current clients, they will plan out the conceptional design for the delivery of business solutions using Aptos’ suite of applications. Often, the design of business solutions will also include a client’s third-party applications.
To deliver solutions that provide business value, the Retail Solution Architect / Engineer must have a deep understanding of all facets of retail. This includes, but not limited to, planning, product development, buying, merchandising, inventory acquisition, supply chain activities, warehouse operations, allocation, replenishment, store operations, store selling, customer acquisition, marketing, e-commerce, and general unified commerce activities. Required Experience.
They will provide business domain leadership throughout the implementation project. Plays a key role in structuring the implementation in terms of its business process, business information, data flows, integration touch points and go-live strategy. The Retail Solution Architect / Engineer will help clients align strategic goals and objectives with decisions regarding the Aptos suite of products and implementation services with the primary focus being on understanding the clients’ business motivations and operations.
Responsibilities:
- Stay updated on emerging technologies, retail industry trends, and best practices through continuous learning and professional development activities.
- Lead the solution design during the Sales opportunity to define project scope.
- Design and document the solutions and implementation strategy in detail while engaging subject matter experts throughout the organization in the process.
- The Aptos Retail Solution Architect / Engineer will work with the customer to define measures that will help to determine project success.
- Lead the project estimation and SOW preparation activities.
- Lead and facilitate the transition from the Sales team to implementation team.
- Actively participate in the project design sessions, working alongside the respective business and technical analysts.
- Building, understanding, explaining, and documenting the planned solution and data flow within the client’s environment - be able to articulate the data which needs to be passed from application to application, both within and outside of the Aptos suite.
- Understanding the client’s business process to determine any gaps between requirements and Aptos core functionalities and define workable solutions to bridge the gaps. Work closely with all levels of the Aptos organization to define solutions.
- Ensuring that the overall solution defined meets the client’s business requirements.
- Define the cutover strategy for go-live.
- Work closely with the PM to identify key dependencies, risks and mitigation plans. Make recommendations on approaches when standard processes don’t fully apply.
- Leverage industry expertise to consult and influence the client's direction.
- Actively participate in the largest and most complex Aptos implementation projects.
- Provide mentorship to project team and solution design team members.
Qualifications:
- Significant experience working with and/or in retail organizations. Demonstrated work experience with all facets of a soft goods or hard goods retail organization.
- Knowledge of industry best practices, standards, and regulations related to retail solutions and IT architecture.
- Experience working with one or more Aptos applications.
- An excellent understanding and ability to separate business requirements and conceptual technical design needs and an ability to speak both business and technical language.
- Strong consulting and customer engagement skills communicating both with business and technical audiences.
- Demonstrable experience communicating at senior levels within client organizations.
- Strong influencing and solution leadership skills.
- Experience in providing solution management and mentorship.
- Self-motivated and will have a proven ability to self-learn through on the job training.
- Understanding of Business Process Design, Business Requirements Design and requirements analysis.
- Ability to understand the client’s business requirements and align them with the core functionality in the Aptos suite being implemented.
- Experience in defining integration and migration strategies.
- Experience in estimating efforts on projects and implementations.
- Experience in managing scope and risk (including proposing and developing risk mitigation strategies)
- Good understanding of software implementation methodologies.

- Flexible to travel up to 25% of the time; 5% travel is ideal for this role.
- The pay range for this position is between $140,000 and $170,000 plus Annual Incentive Bonus. Starting salary may vary based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, the position being offered, location, education, training, and/or experience.
