The Opportunity
Argos is a multiplayer-first, immersive sim with a small, senior team under the creative direction of Warren Spector. We’re looking for a rendering programmer who will work with our art team and own the low level implementation for our distinctive visual style across a variety of domains. Areas of development include NPR shaders, foliage WPO, weather and time of day, procedural terrain materials, and atmospheric VFX. We’re looking for someone who can understand the big picture and who will advocate for what needs to get done.
Job Responsibilities
- Work in partnership with art to envision, implement and validate new visual features as defined by project priorities .
- Work in partnership with art to maintain our existing NPR shaders and provide improvements.
- Collaborate with the Lead Engineer to develop the project roadmap and milestone definitions.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of game industry experience, or equivalent demonstrable experience. Ideal candidates will also have experience in a role focused on rendering.
- Experience developing games in Unreal Engine 4 or 5. Familiarity with the nuances and details of the engine is a plus.
- High level of competence with C++, particularly low level understanding of how C++ interacts with memory. Candidates who prefer clean and simple code a plus.
- Experience developing in HLSL or similar.
- Robust communication skills. Comfortable exploring ideas and issues with designers, artists and other engineers.
- Self-motivated, proactive and able to work with minimal supervision.

Pay Transparency
This is a full-time, remote working role, with competitive compensation and a full suite of benefits available anywhere in the United States. All team members may be asked to occasionally travel for key meetings, as part of their job responsibilities. We're required to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the unique facts and circumstances of each case, but a reasonable estimate of the current base salary range for this role is $115,000 - $130,000.
