Pangaea creates and grows digitally native brands on a global scale. Our first  two brands are Lumin and Meridian, both in the personal care space. Our goal is to create iconic, disruptive, and culture impacting brands that attract communities of brand lovers across borders. Since our launch in 2018, we’ve sold our products in 50 different countries. We have grown to over 50 employees and contractors across several locations in the world. We secured Series B funding in 2021 from Eurazeo Brands.

THE ROLE:

The Product Development Manager will initiate, track and execute all stages of product development from initial concept to delivery for new product launches and reformulations for Lumin and Meridian. This person has excellent communication skills and will liaise with external manufacturers and labs and collaborate with cross functional teams to see projects to fruition. The ideal candidate is a project manager at heart that maintains a high level of organization, flourishes in fast-paced environments and has a passion for consumer-based products, particularly in the beauty and wellness space.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Strategic Planning:
    • Develop and execute a comprehensive product development strategy aligned with the company's overall goals and objectives.
    • Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape.
  • Idea Generation and Conceptualization:
    • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Operations, Creative and the Leadership team to generate innovative product ideas.
    • Evaluate the feasibility and potential success of new product concepts.
  • Project Management:
    • Lead and coordinate product development projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
    • Define project milestones, allocate resources, and monitor progress throughout the development process.
    • Foster effective communication and collaboration among team members.
  • Market Research:
    • Lead market research efforts, presenting findings on trends and competitive intelligence to inform product strategy.
    • Collaborate with suppliers for insights into innovation and new technologies, ensuring product development aligns with market demands.
    • Maintain up-to-date product documentation and leverage data analysis to refine product development decisions.
  • Product Expertise:
    • Serve as the go-to expert on product formulas, ingredients, and benefits, identifying gaps and opportunities within the market.
    • Develop and present compelling product concepts to internal and external stakeholders, highlighting unique selling propositions.
    • Work closely with the design team to ensure product aesthetics are in harmony with the brand identity and appeal to target consumers.
  • Risk Management:
    • Identify potential risks and challenges during the product development process and develop mitigation strategies.
    • Proactively address issues that may arise to keep projects on track.
  • Quality Control:
    • Establish and enforce quality standards for product development.
    • Implement testing and validation processes to ensure products meet specified requirements.
  • Budgeting and Cost Control:
    • Develop and manage budgets for product development projects.
    • Monitor expenses and ensure cost-effectiveness in the development process.
  • Market Launch:
    • Plan and execute successful product launches
    • Develop marketing strategies and materials to support product introductions.
  • Post-Launch Evaluation:
    • Monitor product performance in the market and gather feedback.
    • Analyze sales data and customer feedback to identify areas for improvement.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven experience in product development and project management.
  • Strong understanding of market trends and customer needs within the cosmetics, grooming or supplement categories 
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Must be flexible and accountable, with the ability to self-manage and handle, organize, follow up, and complete multiple projects at once
  • Willing to take initiative and being able to quickly identify and assess any potential risks and threats, while troubleshooting any issues along the way.
  • Previous experience in a fast-paced startup- DTC or e-commerce a plus!

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

The reasonably estimated annual base salary for this role ranges from $85,000.00 - $95,000.00 and may include variable compensation. Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience and location. Details of participation in benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

Additionally, our goal is to provide Pangaeans with an excellent benefits experience that enhances their physical, mental and financial health and well being. These benefits are thoughtfully designed and curated to ensure that our employees are fully equipped to succeed in their work and personal lives. Some benefits include:

  • Health insurance: Pangaea offers medical, dental, and vision insurance plans. Out of three amazing medical plans, we cover 100% for the first plan for employees and 90% of the monthly premium for two higher coverage plans. We also provide 75% of the monthly premium for family coverage.
  • 401(k) matching: After a 3-month waiting period, Pangaea will match up to 4% of the employee's elected contribution to their retirement plan.
  • Time off: Pangaea recognizes 14 paid holidays per year. We also have 6 additional “Pangaea Fridays” throughout the year where employees can get a head start on their weekend and take the whole day off. Lastly, we have a flexible time off policy and trust our employees to take vacation when they need it! 
  • Staff discount: All staff members are given $100 of credit per month to use on Pangaea products so that they can try, own (and love!) all the products we sell.
