Product Design Engineer

Description

Join our Devices team as Product Design Engineer to contribute to the development of a revolutionary AI-enabled imaging device through iterative cycles of design, prototyping, testing, and analysis using data driven decisions to refine product performance.  Being the liaison between multiple cross functional groups spanning industrial design, user experience research, test, failure analysis, manufacturing, product management, quality and clinical, you are at the center of new product development.  You will have the opportunity to interact with most if not all stakeholders and contribute your ideas, designs, processes, and feedback at all stages of the design control cycle.  Good communication, solid engineering fundamentals, ability to prototype, and growth mindset are key to success in this role. 

Responsibilities

  • Design and document electro-optical-mechanical systems for medical applications within a quality regulated framework. 
  • Conceptualize, design, prototype, and evaluate subsystem and system level prototypes incorporating feedback from usability, marketing,  and manufacturing teams.
  • Collaborate with cross functional disciplines such as program management, electrical engineering, optical engineering, UX/ID, supply chain, and quality to balance project requirements.
  • Work with materials, test, and failure analysis teams to evaluate and troubleshoot parts and assemblies for reliability.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or similar field with 1+ years of industry experience.
  • Design and manufacturing experience with various DfXs with support skills such as tolerance analysis and rapid prototyping.
  • Experienced with development of components for mass production processes (e.g. injection molding, sheet metal, machining, elastomers).
  • Experience with Solidworks CAD part/assembly design, creating engineering drawings, and PDM file management.
  • Experience with design control documentation,  testing, validation, and verification of medical devices.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS+ in mechanical engineering or related field with at least 4+ years of industry experience.
  • Experience with taking products from conceptualization through launch, including production transfer and scale up.
  • Experience with design,  modeling, and prototyping of opto-mechanical or  electro-mechanical systems.
  • Experience with process excellence principles (eg. Six Sigma).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional peers from a wide range of technical backgrounds

 

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $96,000 - $136,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
