About The Team

We're looking for a Principal Hardware Product Manager to join our diverse and dynamic team. About the Job
This role combines strategic thinking, hands-on action, and constant communication. You will analyze user behavior, surveys, consumer interviews, and competitor offerings to gain insights and understand user needs. Your goal is to identify how Life360's devices, mobile applications, and network solutions can address these needs.
As a cross-functional role, you will collaborate with teams in engineering, design, operations, finance, and executive leadership to launch features and grow business opportunities. Success requires strong analytical skills, effective teamwork in a matrix organization, and the ability to integrate various technologies into products that resonate with a diverse customer base. The ideal candidate has experience in software and hardware development, from requirements management to volume manufacturing, and a background in Consumer Electronics. At Life360, "Direct with Respect" is a core value. We seek a leader who can receive candid feedback from multiple stakeholders. Conversely, the Hardware product leader will be expected to speak with confidence and candor.
The US based salary range for this position is $195,000 to $275,000. We take into consideration an individual's background and experience in determining final salary- therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes a wide range of medical, dental, vision, financial, and other benefits, as well as equity.
What You’ll Do

- Design Quality Experiences: Develop engaging and high-quality experiences across hardware, firmware, and software throughout the product lifecycle.
- Stay Ahead of Trends: Keep abreast of evolving hardware technologies and assess how they can enhance consumer experiences.
- Envision Future Products: Conceive next-generation hardware products that merge existing and emerging technologies to redefine user experiences.
- Strategic Planning: Analyze market dynamics and position our products to be industry-leading.
- Roadmap Development: Create and communicate a long-term hardware roadmap aligned with your strategic vision.
- Collaborate with Engineering: Work with engineering teams to explore new possibilities and address feasibility challenges through creative problem-solving.
- Data-Driven Insights: Partner with analytics teams to achieve measurable outcomes and drive product success at scale.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Engage with sales, marketing, and finance teams to build robust business cases for features and products.
- Requirements Management: Collect, review, and prioritize requirements from various stakeholders to guide product development.
- Project Guidance: Support teams through the development process to deliver high-quality products.
- Enhance User Satisfaction: Use usability studies, research, and market analysis to inform product requirements and improve user satisfaction.
- Adapt and Innovate: Thrive in a dynamic environment by embracing fluid processes and creative problem-solving.
- Develop Specifications: Create detailed user requirements to guide product specifications and design.
- Broad Technological Knowledge: Utilize your knowledge of hardware, firmware, and software technologies, along with an understanding of manufacturing processes.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience: 8+ years in hardware engineering, product management, or related fields, or equivalent experience.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: 6+ years of experience managing projects across different teams or functions.
- Technical Expertise: 3+ years of hands-on experience with consumer electronics, IoT, or mobile hardware technologies.
- Visionary Thinking: Proven ability to develop and implement key strategies that shape team direction.
- Results-Oriented: Demonstrated success in delivering effective and elegant products at scale.
- Analytical Skills: Strong ability to interpret data and apply insights to decision-making.
- Customer Focus: Experience in guiding product direction based on customer needs and feedback.
- Resourcefulness: Ability to overcome challenges and adapt flexibly to changing circumstances.
- Collaborative Approach: Experience working with cross-functional teams in complex environments.
- Curiosity and Detail-Oriented: Passion for exploring details and bringing innovative solutions to the table.
- Adaptability: Comfort with navigating uncertainty and evolving problem spaces.
