Overview: The Principal PowerBI Architect will lead development for a new Enterprise Dashboard platform. This position brings subject matter expertise as a functional lead and is tasked with ensuring a high level of discipline and productivity.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- The Power BI Architect will be responsible for administering the Power BI Service including Premium in support of 200+ users
- Proven experience in designing, developing, and implementing Power BI solutions
- Strong understanding of data modeling principles and best practices
- The candidate will work closely with members of the Snowflake data lake team including business customers to understand the reporting needs required by the Power BI Service
- Train and support users on Power BI tools and techniques
- Evaluate existing data models and physical databases for variances and discrepancies.
- Responsible for providing full Power BI service administration – user management, workspace management, gateway administration, data source creation, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Develop calculations in DAX
- Migrate from Pro licensing to Premium licensing including converting workspaces, premium capacity monitoring, configure/manage workloads, and optimizing premium capacities.
- Troubleshoot reporting/connectivity issues related to gateway
- Assist in performance tuning of reports using Tabular Editor or DAX Studio
- Work with data owners and report developers to support their needs in the best way possible
- Grow and integrate Power BI Service by designing and deploying workspaces, data models, app tiers, gateways, report services, dashboard support
- Working in Power BI admin portal set up tenant settings, set organization visuals, and more
- Utilize PowerShell and REST APIs to retrieve metadata, data refreshes, usage metrics and auditing
- Be able to access and work on Power BI licensing, subscriptions, or audit logs
- Configure data gateways for access to multiple data sources across the enterprise
- Stay up-to-date on the latest Power BI features and functionality
- Lead and mentor junior resources

- Maintain compliance with Inovalon’s policies, procedures and mission statement, and fulfill those responsibilities and/or duties that may be reasonably provided by Inovalon for the purpose of achieving operational and financial success.
Job Requirements:
- At least 12 to 15 years of relevant experience in Data, BI, Insights, Reporting domain
- 7 to 8 years of Power BI (desktop and cloud), Admin portal, Direct Lake, DAX, Metrics, Semantic model, report server
- 10 + years of experience with data warehousing, data modeling, and data visualization concepts
- Provide oversight and expertise in Data Modeling and Database Design
- Architect and develop data models, ETL packages, OLAP cubes, and reports utilizing Power BI applying best practices to the development lifecycle
- Experience with Power BI for Compliance, Auditing, Data Privacy, Data Classification, Security and Controlling Access to Power BI
- Experience in business analysis and requirements gathering

- Demonstrable experience in developing, validating, publishing, maintaining LOGICAL data models with exposure to or experience in developing, validating, publishing, maintaining PHYSICAL data models
- Demonstrable experience using data modeling tools - e.g., ErWin, SQLDBM, DBT
- Good communication skills to interact with team members, support personnel, and provide technical guidance and expertise to customers and management
- Ability to work in a self-directed work environment
- Experience with CMD and PowerShell scripting for automation
- Good analytical and problem solving skills for design, creation and testing of applications
- Experience with Azure AD and O365 admin
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or Information Technology
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Sedentary work (i.e. sitting for long periods of time).
- Subject to inside environmental conditions.
- Travel for this position will include less than 10% locally usually for training purposes.
