Manager, Tax Compliance and Reporting

What you’ll do

As Manager, Compliance & Tax Reporting, you will oversee federal and state tax compliance and income tax reporting, collaborate with Finance and operations team members, and establish automated tax processes. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring regulatory adherence and operational efficiency.

  • Establish tax compliance priorities and play a lead role in the growth and development of Scout’s tax compliance and reporting function.
  • Manage North America corporate tax compliance requirements across tax types (federal, state, and local).
  • Act as the main point of contact for outsourced tax compliance service providers.
  • Manage responses to tax jurisdictions’ inquiries and audits.
  • Assist with quarterly and annual tax provision calculations and reporting processes.
  • Lead implementation of tax software, collaborating with vendors and tax service providers as needed; Represent Tax on Finance and other enterprise systems implementation initiatives.
  • Navigate ERP systems (including SAP Cloud) with ability to navigate, extract and analyze financial data.
  • Build key internal and external working relationships.
  • Provide tax-technical guidance and support to the business as needed.

Location & Travel Expectations: The responsibilities of this role require attendance at in-person meetings and events regularly. Remote, U.S. based applicants will be considered, however, preference will be given to applicants based near a Scout Motors location in Columbia, SC; Novi, MI; or Tysons VA. This role is not eligible for remote work in New York City. Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

What you’ll bring

  • A degree in accounting with a master’s in taxation and CPA qualification desired
  • 7+ years proven tax generalist experience with public accounting firms or corporate tax for medium-large companies. Experience must include income tax accounting. Knowledge of the research tax credit is a desired.
  • Excellent project management, quantitative/analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated influencing, communication, and strategic relationship-building abilities.
  • Working knowledge of SAP ERP platforms, tax technology solutions, including ONESOURCE products, and data analytics solutions.
  • A track record of implementing technology and process automation.
  • Demonstrated experience effectively managing teams.

Pay Transparency

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.

Initial base salary range = $130,000 - $155,000
