Manager, People Partner

About the role:

Samsara’s People Team is growing and we are looking for a Bengaluru-based Manager, People Partner (HRBP) to drive our talent expansion into India. This person will be our lead people partner responsible for providing strategic and execution support to business leaders and employees based in India.  This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate with strong partnering skills to deliver impactful solutions that accelerate company and employee growth. This is a 0 to 100 build, the leader must have the ability to plan for the long-term while executing at pace with the needs of the company.  We are looking for a highly collaborative, execution-focused person who will dig deep into how to support our growth on multiple fronts -  culture, talent, leadership practices, organizational health, employee programs, among others.

The role reports into Sr Director, People Partner based in London and will be an integral part of the broader People Partner team. You will also have the opportunity to work cross-functionally with other functional and regional People Partners and central people teams. In this role, you will: 

  • Establish yourself as a trusted and reliable partner for the leaders, managers and employees in India and Taiwan
  • Work closely with leaders and managers to understand and conceptualize their specific business, organizational and people landscape. Partner closely with them to drive people initiatives, collaborate on critical talent judgements and achieve operational excellence
  • Deliver targeted solutions and recommendations with a focus on scale and growth, using an analytical and fact-based approach
  • Proactively assess team, manager, organizational development needs, make recommendations, and implement appropriate solutions
  • Assume shared responsibility for the organizational and cultural health of the region and the effectiveness of its leadership team(s)
  • Provide strategic business partnership, thought partnership, and coaching to all levels of the organization
  • Collaboratively partner with Global People Partners to understand and raise regional priorities, and partner on execution of people priorities
  • Manage employee relations issues, investigations, and resolutions in compliance with local labor laws and company policies.
  • Provide regional expertise and guidance on wide ranging employee topics including policies, benefits, local practices, cultural nuances, and issues
  • Drive and support cyclical talent management and compensation/reward programs
  • Participate and lead projects as an integral member of the People Experience team
  • Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices
  • Hire, develop and lead an inclusive, engaged, and high performing team

Minimum requirements for the role:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience, specifically in the strategic HR business partner capacity
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, preferably within a multinational company
  • Strong knowledge of Indian labor laws, regulations, and HR best practices
  • Ability to facilitate sensitive situations with empathy while driving to resolution in the best interest of all parties
  • Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving acumen with attention to detail
  • Ability to work from the Bengaluru office up to 3 days per week.
