The Legal and Governance team
Like most of Griffin, the Legal and Governance team is in its infancy. If successful, you will be our third hire within the space and you’ll be working directly alongside our Company Secretary, Amy primarily supporting our commercial team.
You will have a real and meaningful impact on the success of the commercial deals at Griffin, as we lay the foundations for the future of global financial infrastructure. Our vision is that we will built our legal documentation to be easily accessible to our customers and in line with our company tone of voice.
Who are you
The ideal candidate for this job will have most of the following:
- At least 2 years of PQE
- Experience negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements
- You have a bias to action and desire to work from first principles: spending time to really understand how we can make legal contracts and processes easily understandable to our customers
We’re hybrid-remote, and most of your colleagues will not share an office with you on a day-to-day basis. This means you should also have:
- A high degree of comfort adopting new software tools for document drafting, collaboration and communication.
- A love of writing - we have a major amount of written documentation that you will be contributing to, and we place a high degree of importance on clarity and readability (you can find out more here about how we write )
What will you be doing here?
As a Legal Counsel at Griffin, you will...
- Assist the commercial team with drafting, reviewing and negotiating a range of commercial contracts.
- Provide support and legal advice to all other Griffin teams on major legal projects across the business
- Advise on regulatory issues such as data protection and the use of data within commercial arrangements
- Resolve issues that arise in existing commercial relationships
- Ensure all Griffin contracts and legal documentation are drafted in plain english in line with our tone of voice
- Help develop the fledgling legal operations team at Griffin including how we think, our processes and ways of working.
This role will have an annual salary of £65,000-£70,000, depending on experience.
