ABOUT THIS POSITION

Travel - Will travel to California, Arizona and Texas.

Fluence is seeking an HVAC/Chiller Maintenance Lead who will be responsible for overseeing and performing planned and unplanned maintenance on equipment related to the cooling of our battery storage products. This role will also involve developing training material and training other team members to be able to support these activities. The HVAC/Chiller Maintenance Lead should also find ways to optimize maintenance and performance of Fluence cooling systems to extend the life of the product and reduce total cost impact of these systems to Fluence and our customers. 

Key responsibilities
•Prioritize the safety above all for his/her person as well as others under his/her direction.
•Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with HVAC’s, chillers or other cooling systems used for battery storage systems.
•Perform inspections, testing, maintenance of HVAC/chiller components, including compressors, VFD’s, condensers, evaporators, control systems, etc.
•Develop material and provide training for internal Fluence technicians to be able to perform maintenance activities.
•Provide additional planned maintenance steps to assist in early detection of common failure modes of a specific model of equipment.
•Order parts as needed to fix a piece of equipment or replenish spares stock.
•Provide reports on work completed, document new issues using Fluence internal systems and track time based on project location and type of task (preventative or reactive).

What does the ideal candidate bring to Fluence?

  • An HVAC license in California, Arizona and Texas or the ability to obtain one within the first 3 months of employment. Adding other states as the need arises for Fluence.
  • 5 years or more of experience maintaining HVAC systems in industrial settings.
  • Experience with chillers on BESS is a plus
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate in a professional manner.
  • The ability to travel as needed for work on customer sites, which can be in climate extremes (e.g. in the desert or in the snow).
  • Comfortable completing work from the office or in the field.
  • Proven record of working autonomously towards his/her goals.
  • Highly tuned drive to win and deliver excellence under tight timelines.
  • Track record of taking ownership over responsibilities and pursuing them diligently.
  • Ability to travel
