POSITION SUMMARY: Assists in sorting specimens, primer tubes and maintains equipment in good operating condition. Assists HT/HTL as needed.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assists in routine preparation of histological specimen according to standard operating procedure with little to no errors
• Duties may include, but not limited to, receiving and triaging specimen, H&E staining, scanning of specimen for pathology review, sample storage, disposal, and sending back of specimen to clinics, and other supporting workflow tasks
• Follows Good Laboratory Practice (GLP): maintains a clean and organized workspace
• Recognizes and escalates equipment or LIS malfunctions; troubleshoots common errors by following established SOPs
• Recognizes, documents, escalate protocol deviations to lab management
• Maintains equipment and instruments in good operating condition
• Communicates with team and other departments
• Provides feedback on workflow to lab management and offers suggestions/ideas for improvement
• Assist teammates in completing daily tasks
• Adheres to departmental procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or higher
- 0-2 years of industry-related experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and computer skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Organized, detail oriented, hardworking and be able to take positive direction
- Work independently and with a team
- Ability to multitask
- Ability to work with microsoft excel
Preferred:·
- Knowledge of PPE and Safety regulations.
- Have knowledge of some medical terminology and histopathology practices.
- Capable of reading, accessioning, and translating requisitions
