The Data and Growth team supports the analytics infrastructure that powers business-critical decisions at Docker and designs and executes differentiated growth motions to position the company for hyper growth.

Growth Engineers design and execute experiments, leveraging A/B testing and data analysis to optimize key metrics like user acquisition and retention. Their role extends beyond traditional development, focusing on continuous improvement and innovative strategies to propel business growth. Growth Engineer will look to implement the simplest thing possible to help validate or invalidate a hypothesis.

Growth Engineers are able to dive deep into user data, extracting valuable insights that inform strategic decisions. Their responsibilities include decoding user behavior patterns, monitoring key performance indicators, and providing actionable recommendations.

Analytical skills are important for navigating complex data landscapes and uncovering growth opportunities. Growth Engineers aren’t just data consumers; they’re data interpreters, extracting meaningful insights that in turn lead to strategic decisions.

Creativity is equally crucial. The Growth Engineers must be able to envision innovative solutions beyond traditional approaches. Whether it’s devising a unique user acquisition strategy or crafting compelling messaging, creativity is the driving force behind their success.

Responsibilities

  • Leverage data to understand our customers and our funnel in depth, identify areas of opportunity, and execute projects to drive revenue, customer growth, retention, and/or engagement

  • Build internal solutions that automate business processes using any combination of custom frontends, Cloud applications, backend services, scripts, etc.

  • Collaborate with marketing and sales operations teams to implement growth initiatives

  • Lead engineering discussions and write thoughtful documentation and unit tests

  • Work within a cross-functional team of product managers, data analysts, designers, and software engineers

  • Demonstrate cross-team collaboration and own the team’s engineering needs

Qualifications

  • Data literacy: Crafting hypotheses and evaluating results

  • Experience with experimentation and A/B testing tooling

  • Excellent analytical skills, experienced with Snowflake, Looker, Google Analytics, Heap, or Mixpanel type of analytics tools.

  • Knowledgeable about modern web technologies and testing frameworks

  • Growth mindset (have a detailed understanding of business KPIs and the end goal)

  • Frontend and backend development experience

  • Ability to partner with different parts of the organization to identify and solve major business problems

  • Pragmatic thinking - the ability to make tactic decisions when needed

  • Excellent communication skills

  • User acquisition and user engagement strategies

  • Experience in working in a full stack, API engineering or application services role

  • 5+ years of experience building SaaS applications

  • Experience with Python and/or Javascript

  • Ability to write clearly about technical and product-related subjects
