About the Role:
We are looking for a Mobile/Video Platform Architect with deep experience in short-form video creation, particularly Reels-like features. You will play a key role in designing and architecting our mobile video infrastructure, including thumbnail generation, video processing, and overall UX/UI collaboration.
This is a 3-month contractor position with a part-time commitment of 4 hours per day. You'll collaborate closely with our founding team, product designers, and developers to bring a brand-new mobile video platform to life.
Responsibilities:
Architect and guide the development of core features for a mobile video creation platform.
Design and implement the creation and handling of video thumbnails.
Work hands-on with React Native to build scalable and performant mobile components.
Collaborate with UI/UX designers using Figma to ensure pixel-perfect implementation.
Bring past experience in building Reels or similar short-form video features to advise on best practices, UX, and performance optimization.
Define architecture decisions and technical direction for the video stack.
Ensure the platform is optimized for performance, user engagement, and scalability.
Required Qualifications:
8 years + of experience
Proven experience in building mobile applications with React Native.
Strong understanding of video content workflows, especially around Reels or short-form video creation.
Hands-on experience with thumbnail generation and video processing.
Proficient in working with Figma and collaborating with design teams.
Solid understanding of mobile performance and user experience best practices.
Strong architectural thinking and ability to work independently on technical decisions.
Fluent in English with excellent communication skills.
Nice to Have:
Experience in a startup environment.
Familiarity with backend video processing or integrations with video APIs.
Knowledge of mobile video editing libraries or SDKs.
