The Opportunity
Our small but mighty Marketing & Events team is growing, and we are looking for an enthusiastic Event Marketing Specialist to bring our community and brand experiences to the next level. As the Event Marketing Specialist you will play a critical role in planning, executing, and optimizing event marketing initiatives to enhance our brand presence and achieve our business objectives.
As an Event Marketing Specialist, you will play a key role in designing and executing exceptional events from our annual flagship event, posit::conf, to regional community events, and large industry trade shows.
What you'll own
- Plan, coordinate, and execute a selection of industry trade shows, Posit-hosted events, and partner events
- Allow us to scale the number of events we can support
- Travel to support in-person events, at least 1-2 times per quarter
What you'll assist with
- 5-10 events per year that are primarily in-person across North America. 10% are international and virtual events
- Have a huge influence on Posit’s flagship event, posit::conf - working on various aspects of in-person and virtual components
- Collaborate with most of the company, particularly growth marketing, product marketing, and sales
- Work with external vendors and agencies
- Assist in the development and execution of marketing campaigns across various channels (digital, social, email, etc.)
- Create and write marketing materials including emails, social media posts, and internal enablement documents
- Optimize campaign tracking and analytics, and make recommendations on how to improve marketing metrics overall — you have an eye for conversion optimization

A bit about you
- 2-3 years of experience in event planning, management, or a related field, preferably with some exposure to tech or startup environments
- You have exceptional project management skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously without missing a beat
- Experience in supporting teams on large-scale hybrid conferences end-to-end
- You possess strong communication skills with the ability to negotiate with vendors, and work effectively with cross-functional teams
Within 1 month, you’ll…
- Wrap your arms around Posit’s event marketing landscape, learn which events we participate in, which events we should evaluate more, and highlight areas of growth
- Conduct a deep dive into posit::conf, understanding the structure of the event, the audience, the vision/mission, the 2025 and 2026 plan
- Review current marketing and event marketing tools including Rainfocus and Jira
Within 3 months, you’ll…
- Collaborate closely with various teams and external vendors on multiple events concurrently
- Own various initiatives related to posit::conf
- Spearhead current events and looking ahead for new event initiatives
- Be researching new events, finding event venues where needed for ancillary events, and sourcing vendors as needed
Within 6 months, you’ll…
- Be fully up to speed on project/event management processes, understanding which teams/people to work with for different event elements, and overseeing external events from start to finish
- Be tracking and reporting on event performance
- Collaborate with internal Posit team(s) on new event experiences for customers
- Help with copywriting for social and email promotion to increase engagement/awareness for upcoming events
Within 12 months, you’ll…
- Help to grow the event marketing landscape, strategy, process, and reporting structure
- Participate in various events across the US, attending some in-person
- Be a huge part of posit::conf in pre, during, and post-event planning
