Email Marketing Manager

About the role: 

As the Email Marketing Manager at dbt Labs, you will be at the forefront of crafting and executing email campaigns that drive engagement, conversion, and customer retention. You will play a pivotal role in leveraging our email platform to communicate effectively with our audience, nurturing leads, and fostering strong relationships with customers. This role requires a blend of strategic thinking, data analysis, and creative flair to develop targeted email strategies that align with our company objectives and resonate with our audience.

In this role, you can expect to oversee:

  • Spam Compliance: Ensure all email marketing campaigns comply with relevant spam laws and regulations, including CAN-SPAM and GDPR
  • Database Growth & Health: Develop strategies to grow the size of our email subscriber database while maintaining data accuracy and hygiene.
  • List Management: Manage and maintain email lists including segmentation, list hygiene, and opt-out process to ensure maximum deliverability and engagement.
  • Email Authentication & Deliverability: Implement email authentication protocols such as SPF, DKIM, and DMARC, and subdomains to improve inbox placement and deliverability, while monitoring and resolving any deliverability issues that may arise. Generate regular reports on email deliverability and performance while providing recommendations for improvement.
  • Analysis & Reporting: Analyze email marketing performance metrics including open rates, click-through rates, and conversion rates to derive insights, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions to optimize future campaigns.
  • Testing and Optimization: Plan and execute A/B tests on various elements of email campaigns, including subject lines, content, CTAs, and send times, to continuously improve performance and enhance engagement with subscribers.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other members within marketing, product, and other teams to implement, measure, and advance email campaigns.
  • Communications Calendar: Manage the email marketing calendar and ensure timely delivery of campaigns.

You are a good fit if you have:

  • 4+ years of professional experience directly developing email marketing strategy and cadence, with a proven record of launching successful campaigns. Preferably in a B2B or tech startup environment
  • Experience with HubSpot or other large list management platforms with automated journey capabilities (Marketo, Pardot, MailChimp, etc.)
  • Experience with A/B or multivariate testing in emails
  • Familiarity with Litmus, Email on Acid, or similar tools for email inbox rendering and compatibility testing
  • Thorough understanding of sender reputation/deliverability and how to influence it. Preferably having experience with tools like Validity, MailMonitor, etc.
  • Solid understanding of email analytics and KPIs, for reporting as well as optimizing campaigns for efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Experience with segmentation and personalization strategies to deliver targeted and relevant content.
  • Understanding of data security and regulatory measures that apply to consumer email marketing (CAN-SPAM, GDPR, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of HTML and CSS
  • Familiarity with project management software, preferably Asana
  • Excellent written communication skills and attention to detail.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $136,000-$160,000
