Title: Director, Transportation Procurement

Role Description:
The Director, Transportation Procurement will be responsible for the operational and commercial management of the ShipBob Logistics Network along with the commercial management of all first, middle, and last mile carrier agreements. This includes ensuring compliance to high performance standards, operating procedures, business rules, etc. This position will have delegated procurement authority and will be responsible for identifying and recommending strategic opportunities for transportation.
What you’ll do:
- Deliver ShipBob’s transportation cost and quality goals through the procurement of freight and last mile transportation service partners.
- Partner closely with Research Science and Finance teams to develop a local/regional/national/international carrier portfolio based on demand coverage, middle mile connectivity, time in transit, and end-to-end costs.
- Ensure ShipBob’s customer and merchant-facing SLAs match the obligations of its transportation service providers.
- Partner with Operations to manage carrier quality and execution.
- Own carrier-facing governance mechanisms including daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly reporting and business reviews.
- Prepare and execute RFPs/RFQs across all ShipBob transportation needs.
- Drive contract negotiations, carrier selection, and carrier implementation workflows on behalf of ShipBob.
- Own carrier compliance/sourcing risk management on behalf of ShipBob.
- Build, lead, develop, and inspire a high-performing Transportation Procurement team with clear success criteria.
- Other duties/responsibilities as necessary.
What you’ll bring to the table:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics/Supply Chain, Engineering, or Business Management.
- Minimum of 10 years in Logistics Management across freight and parcel carrier networks.
- 5+ years negotiating with third party service providers.
- 5+ years of experience in extracting data, analyzing results, and developing recommendations to senior leadership.
- 5+ years of experience working with various cross functional teams locally and globally.
- Project management experience in the development, implementation, and management of various size projects.
- Familiarity with DDP, DDU, Section 321 and other cross-border/international shipments and other complex international shipping flows.

ShipBob believes in transparency while providing a competitive total compensation package with a pay for performance approach. The full base pay range for this position in our compensation architecture is $132,893 - $221,488.
