Director, Product-Led Growth

US - Remote

At dbt Labs, we believe allowing users to discover, learn, and experience our products is critical to our long-term success. Our self-service motion is an important part of this strategy.

We are adding a new dedicated role, Director of Product-Led Growth, to own the dbt Labs self-service funnel end-to-end, from acquisition to conversion and retention. This is a unique role that combines growth marketing and product management, and will require working cross-functionally to drive impact across every step of the customer journey. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in product-led growth, technical products, and (ideally!) open-source communities.

In this role, you can expect to:

  1. Develop Product Experiences: Design and implement product experiences that enhance user engagement and drive conversion rates throughout the funnel. Use a combination of big-bet and smaller-bet experimentation tactics to inflect growth.
  2. Implement Growth Marketing Tactics: Utilize growth marketing tactics to attract and acquire new users, optimize conversion rates, and increase customer lifetime value.
  3. Analyze Data and Metrics: Monitor key performance indicators, analyze data, and derive insights to optimize the funnel's performance and drive revenue growth. Report on performance to the rest of the company.
  4. Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with marketing and sales to align strategies, minimize channel friction, and drive cohesive growth initiatives. Work with engineering and product to implement and manage a feedback loop for addressing common user challenges and requests in future product updates.

You are a good fit if you have:

  • Proven experience in a growth marketing, growth product management, or other product-led growth role, preferably with technical products or in an open source ecosystem
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to consider both quantitative and qualitative data points to make data-driven decisions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and work collaboratively with a diverse set of users and contributors
  • Strategic thinking and the ability to develop comprehensive product/growth strategies and roadmaps
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • The ability to roll your sleeves up at the start and then hire as we prove success
  • Experience with a PLG motion that is integrated into a larger customer journey that includes sales-led growth

You'll have an edge if you have:

  • Strong technical acumen and the ability to help engineers translate customer needs into specific features that benefit the customer and drive engagement and growth
  • An ability to self-serve your analytics needs with modern data tooling
  • Familiarity with the data ecosystem and buyer personas
  • Experience with SEO best practices
  • Participation in open-source projects, either as a contributor or maintainer
