Director of Product Research, Monetization

San Francisco, CA, US; Remote, US
USD $187,000~$385,000
Product

Pinterest is looking for a Director of Monetization Product Research to lead our team of managers and researchers that are designing the future of our ads products and tooling. We’re looking for a proven leader in the advertising space — a cross-functional, cross-organizational team player who thrives on teams that bias for action and results so teams ship fast at a high-quality bar. With this role you’ll have the opportunity to build world-class ads products that enable Pinners (consumers) to manifest their life on Pinterest and take action at the right points of that journey through sponsored products.

What you’ll do:

  • Manage, build, mentor, and inspire a team of qualitative and quantitative product researchers, providing product direction and pushing the quality of the user experience.
  • Build relationships with cross functional team members and executives across organizations, and effectively speak to process, product goals and team vision as a leader and a strong representative of research.
  • Influence product strategy and lead your team in planning and executing research with a high strategic impact
  • Contribute beyond the Monetization pillar to the Design team as a whole (Product Design, Product Research, Content Design, Foundations, DesignOps). You’ll work to up-level the entire design team through your strong skillset and work closely with the other Directors and the Head of Design to build a world-class design team.
  • Hungry to learn and evolve. From leadership skills to design craft to process to industry and market trends — you never stop pushing into the next big challenge.

What we’re looking for:

  • 10+ years in Product Research (or equivalent) and 3+ years experience recruiting, hiring, and retaining multi-disciplinary design teams.
  • 3+ years of being an influential research leader on enterprise software, ideally in the advertising space.
  • Proven track record of being able to have strong conviction and the ability to influence across executive stakeholders and cross-functional partners that leads to drive toward a unified vision of a strong user experience.
  • Proven ability to work closely with Product, Engineering, PMM, Research, and Sales to paint both the long-term, holistic vision of our Ads products.
  • Strong ability to work closely with consumer teams, across Research, Design and cross-functional partners, to deeply understand the consumer experience and how to build a thriving ads experience that leverages existing user behavior and needs.
  • Proven track record of being able to balance ambiguity, fast iterative sprints, business awareness, technology, organizational agility, research and data insights, and high design quality.
  • Proven ability to accelerate team efficiency by improving processes and workflows within the research team and cross-functional teams.
