The Director of Legal will report to the VP of Finance and be the founding member of the Legal team. You will have a wide scope of responsibilities including commercial contracts, vendor contracts, compliance and corporate matters. You will be a trusted partner to senior leaders across the company and will set the stage for scaling up the legal function as the company continues to grow by defining processes and best practices.
You Will:
- Prepare, review and negotiate a broad range of contracts and agreements, including sales contracts, vendor contracts and partnership agreements
- Partner with the Sales team to develop and execute sales contracts
- Research, identify and evaluate risks and mitigation strategies to future proof the company
- Provide accurate, relevant and timely legal advice on a variety of legal topics, including corporate governance, intellectual property and regulatory compliance
- Develop and improve legal standards and processes
- Represent the company in legal proceedings, as needed
- Communicating with and managing any third-party external counsel
You Have:
- JD from an accredited law school and Bar membership in good standing
- 7+ years progressive experience in legal counsel or related experience
- Strong understanding of the law with particular emphasis on commercial contracts, vendor contracts and corporate governance
- SaaS industry experience required; mid-to-late stage startup experience preferred
- Desire to roll-up your sleeves, prioritize work, execute plans, and drive deliverables
- Collaborative working style with partners across the organization with accountability to make and own critical decisions
- Strong communication style and capability of presenting legal information clearly and concisely
U.S. base salary range for this role is $230,000 - $270,000 (CA, NY, WA) and $220,000 - $260,000 (other US locations). Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
