Job summary
The Ad Council’s Financial Development Department is looking for a Director of Financial Development who will play a key role in supporting the Development team in raising approximately $13M in general operating support and assisting in raising more than $7M for the Ad Council’s Public Service Award Dinner annually. The department manages the organization’s 150-member Board of Directors and organizes all board member meetings, engagement and events, as well as prospecting for new donors throughout the year. The Director of Development plays an integral role in the Ad Council’s fundraising program by managing a portfolio of key corporate donors, cultivating relationships with donors and prospects, working collaboratively to develop campaign partnerships, tracking and reporting fundraising efforts, and coordinating and executing Board events.
The compensation for this position is within the range of $100,000 – $115,000 annually (based on experience level). The compensation package also includes an annual incentive, comprehensive benefit offerings, and generous paid time off.
What you’ll do:
- Manage a portfolio of 30 - 35 corporate donors, responsible for raising approximately $2.5 million in annual general operating support, plus additional support for the annual dinner
- Conduct face-to-face donor meetings with Board Members and high-level corporate executives to cultivate relationships and secure support
- Research, identify and solicit new corporate donors
- Submit grant proposals and progress reports when necessary
- Coordinate with other departments including communications, finance and campaigns on securing updated information for stewardship reports
- Initiate and work closely with campaign teams to facilitate strategic corporate partnerships
- Assist with tracking and reporting for all general operating support, pledge and gift processing, and management of data in Salesforce
- Assist with coordination and execution of Board events
- Lead and create power point presentations for Board engagement
- Represent department on internal committees and at industry conferences
- Research and create prep documents for prospects and industry events
- Assist when needed in support of campaign funding efforts
What you bring:
- 5+ years of experience working in a high-performance professional environment
- Fundraising experience, or a combination of experiences that have a substantial client relationship management and/or business development component including marketing, advertising sales, or traditional and social media
- Exceptional interpersonal skills; demonstrated success in developing and maintaining executive-level client or donor relationships
- Outstanding communication skills, both written and spoken
- Excellent project management track record, strong organizational and follow-up skills, and attention to detail
- Self-motivated and goal-oriented
- The desire to make work a fun and rewarding experience
- Some travel required
