Data is at the core of Lacework’s products and operations, and the Data Science & Engineering org is pivotal in how data is leveraged across the company. We are looking for a strong and experienced leader for Lacework’s Data Science team in this org.
In this highly cross-functional role, you will interact with leadership at all levels across product, engineering, and beyond. We are looking for someone capable of setting a strategic direction for the team and supporting fast paced execution towards desired goals.
Responsibilities
- Support and lead a team of data scientists at different stages of their career.
- Provide technical guidance to team members, and directly contribute to projects as needed.
- Guide the team’s output in diverse domains (product, security, infrastructure, sales, and more).
- Promote fast and tight execution, tied to company’s priorities.
- Provide strategic leadership and overall direction for the team’s long-term positioning and impact.
- Collaborate with a wide array of cross-functional partners and stakeholders.
- Promote the use of data to drive decision making, in partnership with peers from Data Engineering and Data Analytics teams.
- Advance the Data Science discipline at Lacework, driving best practices, expanding our stack, and improving processes.
- Identify opportunities where Data Science can improve Lacework’s products, processes, and infrastructure.
We’re excited about you because…
- You have 8+ years of experience working as a data scientist, of which at least 4 spend as a people manager.
- You have experience leading teams in complex cross-functional environments.
- You have a track record of identifying opportunities for Data Science impact and moving fast towards delivering outcomes.
- You have a degree in a quantitative discipline (Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, Economics, or other). MS or PhD are a plus.
- You have strong working knowledge of fundamental Statistics and Machine Learning concepts and methods.
- You have experience with data query languages (SQL or similar) and programming languages (Python or R).
- You have excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data concepts into actionable business insights.
- As a plus, you have experience applying Data Science at b2b or SaaS companies.
