Role Description:
As a Data Scientist III, you will be responsible for discovering and analyzing data across all aspects of ShipBob’s business, including supply-chain operations, logistics, sales, marketing and customer support.
What you’ll do:
- Identify high impact business opportunities through data exploration, model prototypes and bootstrapping projects.
- Hands-on development, productionization, and operation of machine learning models and pipelines at scale, including both batch and real-time use cases, structured and unstructured data.
- Collaborate closely with product management and engineering to develop the next generation of ShipBob's features and communicate findings and insights through reports and visualizations.
- Mentor and guide engineers in the organization by promoting best practices, strong technical decisions, coding standards and thorough documentation.
- Regularly present work internally (data science demo, internal talks) to technical, engineering and product stakeholders to iterate and generate excitement.
- Other duties/responsibilities as necessary.
What you’ll bring to the table:
- 4+ years of industry experience (data scientist, ML engineer, tech lead).
- Solid track record of designing, prototyping, scaling and launching data science products to solve business problems.
- Deep understanding of Machine Learning lifecycle, best practices, algorithms and domains (e.g. anomaly detection, natural language processing, computer vision, personalization, recommendation, and optimization).
- Experience collaborating with and understanding the needs of stakeholders from a variety of business functions and ability to work with domain experts to leverage their expertise for your solution.
- Excellent coding skills in Python and familiarity with software engineering principles around testing, code reviews and deployment.
- Fundamental understandings of the data engineering practice around creation of data pipelines, processing data and storing data.
- Ability to take a product-oriented mindset in using conceptual and innovative thinking to develop and apply solutions, considering the user experience.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively to audiences of varying technical levels.
- Experience in supply chain or logistics is nice to have.
- Familiarity with C# is nice to have.

ShipBob believes in transparency while providing a competitive total compensation package with a pay for performance approach. The full base pay range for this position in our compensation architecture is $127,564 - $212,606.
