The Role:
Halcyon’s goal is to deliver an anti-ransomware solution that breaks new ground as to what a security product can deliver. Aligned with this goal, Halcyon is looking for an experienced engineer to contribute to the development of our cloud applications and specifically our data platform and cloud infrastructure which provide the foundation for the solution. Our data platform provides our other cloud engineering teams the foundation upon which we build all of our cloud solutions.
Responsibilities:

Feature Development: Assist in the design, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance of new and existing data platform features.

Developer Experience: Enhance the experience for developers within the team, ensuring a productive and collaborative environment.

Collaboration with Product Teams: Work closely with product managers. Align data platform functionality with product vision and user needs, ensuring consistency across platforms.

Interface with API and Applications Teams: Coordinate with API and cloud applications developers. Ensure that the needs of the API and Cloud Applications teams are being met by the data platform.

Team Building and Expansion: Actively participate in the recruitment and growth of the Data Platform development team.

Code Quality: Maintain high standards for code quality and documentation.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Continuously explore new techniques and tools to improve development processes.

System Reliability Experience: Design for sustainable reliability and monitor the data platform for issues or degradation and respond appropriately and responsibly
Skills and Qualifications:

Experience building data processing platforms using a modern programming language and common data processing libraries

Experience interfacing with a variety of databases and data stores

Experience with streaming data processing

Experience deploying infrastructure and applications in AWS
-
Experience collaborating with other engineering teams on integration and architectural design

Experience deploying applications on Kubernetes with Helm (or similar tooling)
Bonus Skills and Qualifications:

Experience building data processing applications in Scala/Kotlin/Java or Rust
-
Experience with Terraform, GitLab, and/or ArgoCD
-
Experience with OpenSearch/ElasticSearch, Postgres, DynamoDB, and/or Kafka

Base Salary Range: $180,000 - $210,000
Bonus Target: 10%
