DESCRIPTION
 
Develop tools to support platform and process automation and integration. Guide project teams on technical best practices related to data flow and reuse, design practices. Mentor and coach project teams, specifically with design reviews. Provide the team with a roadmap for implementing solutions that meets the needs for automation, interoperability, reuse, and ease of maintenance. Develop and maintain automated system administration tools to support performance monitoring, user identity and access management, efficient data pipelines and system auto recovery. Change management including security, infrastructure and application environment configuration changes, upgrades and patches; performance monitoring, tuning and server instances and AWS account management. Manage and support migration of objects (dimensions, measures, hierarchies, reports, workbooks, dashboards), from development to production environments. Investigate platform related issues and escalate to vendors, infrastructure, security when needed; Develop and document standards/best practices for development and administration of the GDS analytics platform. Involves the opportunity to telecommute five days a week from anywhere in the U.S. or any Nielsen U.S. office.
 
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Requirements:Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in data science, applied statistics, or a related computational or quantitative field (foreign equivalent degree acceptable) and two (2) years of experience (with Master’s) or five (5) years of post-baccalaureate experience (with Bachelor’s) in data engineering. Prior experience must include two (2) years in/with: cloud architecture based application server solutions; Amazon Web Services (AWS); AWS tools, specifically the following applications: Elastic MapReduce (EMR), Identity and Access Management (IAM), Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), Simple Storage Service (S3), Relational Database Service (RDS), Lambda, and Autoscaling; relational and non-relational database tools; database server platform sizing, troubleshooting, tuning and disaster recovery; Python; CI/CD tools such as Git; Linux; and Apache Spark.Salary range from $168,854/yr to $185,000/yr.M-F, 40 hours/week.
