The Opportunity

We are looking for an ambitious and hardworking Legal Counsel to support a fast legal team, who's pushing the boundaries and doing exciting things at a global identity and biometric start-up.

As Legal Counsel, you'll provide comprehensive legal guidance across various departments, covering contract negotiation, intellectual property, data privacy, and regulatory compliance. You'll draft and review contracts, conduct legal research, manage external counsel relationships, and collaborate with teams to support strategic initiatives, ensuring our organization operates within legal bounds and maximizes opportunities for success

Location: Mexico City, Argentina, Colombia (Remote) 

Department :Legal

Reporting Line: Senior Director of Legal Affairs & Compliance


Responsabilities 

  • Provide legal advice and guidance to various departments within the company on a wide range of legal matters, including but not limited to contract negotiation, intellectual property, data privacy and regulatory compliance.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of contracts and agreements, such as vendor contracts, customer agreements, partnership agreements, and licensing agreements.
  • Conduct legal research and stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and industry trends to advise the company on potential risks and opportunities.
  • Manage relationships with external legal counsel and other third-party service providers as needed.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives and strategic projects.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Law or a related field; JD or equivalent preferred.
  • +8  years of experience practicing law, preferably with a combination of in-house and law firm experience.
  • Proven experience in contract drafting, negotiation, and review.
  • Strong understanding of intellectual property, data privacy, and regulatory compliance issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Adaptable and proactive with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Experience working in the technology industry or with SaaS companies.
  • Familiarity with international legal frameworks and regulations.
  • Additional certifications or specialized training in relevant areas of law.
