We are looking for a Manager- Tax Accountant to join our Corporate Accounting Crew and own the monthly accounting process for our subsidiary in Mexico and all homes operating in Mexico. This person will be hands-on in both the day-to-day full cycle accounting and payables for homes in Mexico, as well as active participation in the month end close procedures. The ideal candidate will reside in Mexico and have experience of bookkeeping, tax compliance in Mexico and Intercompany Agreements with subsidiaries in the US.
What you will do
- Assist with day-to-day accounting functions including accounts payables and recording the impact to the individual homes, and the subsidiaries in Mexico and the US.
- Compile local statutory bookkeeping under Mexican GAAP for review and file monthly and annual financial statements.
- Assist with monthly income tax prepayment return, monthly VAT return and annual corporate income tax return and file/pay timely with the Mexican Tax Authorities.
- Assist with treasury management
- Monitor, record and process daily cash activity
- Work closely with Controller to complete monthly close for applicable subsidiaries and assist with general Corporate accounting initiatives
- Review monthly property level financials compare to budget with internal Property Managers
- Process improvements to current processes for efficiency gains and scalability in Mexico
- Will serve as the tax registered agent and be able to assist with any inquiries raised by the Mexican Tax Authorities and the Local Treasury Office by mail or in person.
Skills and Qualifications
- Strong compliance expertise in Mexico on invoicing and tax
- Understand the impact of Intercompany agreements between Mexico and the US and how to record transactions across multiple systems
- Fluent in Spanish and English
- Experience working with multiple subsidiaries and currencies
- Prior accounting experience related to property management
- Netsuite and Rent Manager experience preferred, but not required
- Team player with strong attention to details
