We’re looking for a motivated Commercial Counsel to join Salsify’s legal team to continue to grow our legal, security and compliance program. The Commercial Counsel will provide legal advice and support on a broad range of company initiatives, including commercial transactions, stakeholder enablement and legal operations. The Commercial Counsel will support Salsify’s operations around the globe, with a primary focus on software-as-a-service (SaaS) customer contracts and various types of supplier contracts. The Commercial Counsel will report directly to our Chief Legal Officer and will be an integral part of Salsify’s legal team. The person will be part of Salsify’s growing hub in Portugal (Salsify’s largest hub outside of the United States).
This role requires a strong customer service orientation. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working independently and proactively.
How You'll Make an Impact:
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, such as SaaS agreements, professional services agreements, consulting agreements, data processing addendums, vendor agreements, and partner agreements.
- Design and implement tools to enhance processes for scalability, such as developing and delivering training sessions and materials to empower various company stakeholders.
- Play a key role in advising on and implementing controls, policies, and processes to scale the business.
- Partner with InfoSec and engineering teams to implement data protection controls, and to support privacy standard practices for customer, employee, partner, and vendor personal information.
You'll Enjoy This Role If You Have:
- 5+ years of experience (including 2+ years in-house) drafting and negotiating both sales and procurement contracts (required) in the English language.
- SaaS industry experience strongly preferred.
- Experience negotiating cross.
- A desire to improve processes.
- Knowledge of data privacy and IP laws and concepts.
- Bachelor’s degree in law required.
- English fluency is required - French fluency would be an advantage.
- Experience working as part of a global team preferred.
