About the Role

 

We’re looking for a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our platform engineering group as a Cloud Cost Manager. This group is responsible for building a highly available, reliable, and scalable application/infrastructure platform running over 4 million data pipeline jobs every day across 3 major public clouds GCP, AWS, and Azure.  

 

In this role, you will be responsible for optimizing and managing our engineering SaaS application and cloud infrastructure costs while ensuring efficient resource/cost allocation, usage, and budget adherence. To be successful, you must possess excellent communication and problem-solving skills, be able to work with cross-functional teams and drive initiatives, and have a deep understanding of cloud technologies, SaaS applications, FinOps, and a passion for optimizing cloud spending to drive business value. This is a full-time position based out of our Novi Sad office.

What You’ll Do

 

  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize cloud infrastructure costs across AWS, Azure, GCP, and engineering SaaS applications (Observability, CI/CD, Incident management, etc.) spend/usage including but not limited to tagging, attribution, policies & controls
  • Monitor cloud/engineering SaaS application usage and expenditure, track utilization of reservations/savings plan, analyze cost drivers, identify cost-saving opportunities, and provide actionable insights to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with finance and engineering teams to establish cloud budgets, track actual spending against budgets/contracts, and provide regular reporting on cost performance.
  • Work closely with engineering and development teams to right-size cloud resources, optimize instance types, and leverage reserved instances, savings plans, commitments, or spot instances where appropriate.
  • Evaluate cloud service and SaaS providers, negotiate pricing contracts, and manage relationships to ensure cost-effective solutions and compliance including their PO/invoice management
  • Build financial models for projecting SaaS and cloud costs, ensuring accurate cost estimation, budgeting, forecasting, and identification of savings opportunities. 
  • Drive a culture of cost accountability and enable team members through training and documentation
  • Demonstrate critical thinking and growth mindset, enthusiastic about learning new technologies quickly and applying the gained knowledge to address business problems. 
  • Stay up-to-date on best practices and emerging trends in cloud cost optimization, evolving service offerings, and pricing models.
  • Collaborate with partners across the company to continuously identify cloud cost optimization opportunities and drive strategic cost-saving initiatives that improve gross margin. 
  • Design and Implement cloud cost allocation methodologies to attribute cloud expenses to different departments, groups, teams, services, or cost centers accurately

 

Skills We’re Looking For

 

  • Proven experience(5+ years) in FinOps best practices, and cloud/engineering SaaS application(Observability, CI/CD, Incident management, etc.) cost management including reporting and optimization at scale on AWS, Azure, and GCP
  • Proficiency in cloud cost management tools and platforms such as AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management, Cloud Custodian, and GCP Cloud Billing Reports
  • Experience handling major cost-saving projects from inception through post-implementation
  • Experience building and managing data analysis & visualizations using tools like Looker, Sigma, Google Sheets
  • Experience with developing scripts using languages like Python, SQL, and Terraform to implement automated cost optimization control & attribution policies
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills related to cloud service and engineering SaaS application contracts
  • Strong understanding of cloud services, architectures, discount programs, and pricing models offered by major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data, identify trends, and make data-driven recommendations.
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams, drive cross-functional initiatives, and influence decision-making at all levels of the organization.

 

Bonus Skills​

  • Understanding of Kubernetes and container cost allocation strategy
