About Tide

At Tide, we are building a finance & admin platform designed to save small businesses time and money. We provide our members with business accounts and related banking services, but also a comprehensive set of connected administrative solutions from invoicing to accounting. Launched in 2017, Tide is now the leading business financial platform in the UK with 575,000 SME members (10% market share) and more than 250,000 SMEs in India. Headquartered in London, Tide has over 1,600 Tideans across the UK, Bulgaria, India, Serbia, Romania, Ukraine and Germany.

Tide is rapidly growing, expanding into new markets and always looking for passionate and driven people. Join us in our mission to empower small businesses and help them save time and money.

About the team

Our Dev Experience team is building tools and processes that help our engineers get coding and deployment done with the minimum amount of fuss whilst ticking the safety, regulatory and compliance boxes we need.

We are committed to a 100% Infrastructure-as-Code approach to infrastructure builds using Terraform and currently deploy to AWS. We also follow the GitOps model of application deployment and use tools such as ArgoCD, Helm and Crossplane to facilitate this approach.

As part of the wider Cloud Infrastructure team, you will work closely with other cloud engineers to make this model for deploying and managing services usable for Tide. You’ll also work closely with our Information Security team to ensure we meet and exceed our regulatory obligations.

About the role

  • Working in tandem with frontend and backend developers to build and integrate tools and systems to make their developer experience even better
  • Building systems and integrations to make things better in the following areas:
    • Continuous Integration and deployment pipelines
    • Site Reliability Engineering (SRE)
    • Environment provisioning for development and testing
    • Service catalogue
  • Finding problem areas in Tide’s CI/CD pipelines and making them faster
  • Automating operational work to ensure Tide’s systems run smoothly and without human intervention wherever possible
  • Working with technical teams and agile coaches to understand bottlenecks in our engineering processes and find technical solutions

What we are looking for

  • You have had demonstrable exposure to infrastructure, Cloud or DevOps work
  • You have used and preferably administered tools such as GitHub, Backstage, LaunchDarkly, DataDog, ArgoCD and CI/CD tooling
  • Infrastructure-as-code such as Terraform and CloudFormation
  • You are familiar with working in Docker, Kubernetes and AWS environments
  • You have an awareness of web-based UIs which use frameworks like React or Angular
  • You have experience with a language such as Java, Python, Go or NodeJS
  • You care about making tools that are easy to use, effective and easy to maintain
  • You have experience working in agile environments
  • You are a self starter who is comfortable reading and understanding documentation, getting stuck into a problem and turning out a quick prototype
  • You are able to decompose big problems into solvable chunks, and deliver full solutions incrementally
  • You have technical knowledge and experience with API-based products
  • You are comfortable working in a fast-moving company where priorities will change and processes may need to be created from scratch

Our Tech Stack (You don’t have to excel in all, but willing to learn them):

  • Kubernetes (Amazon EKS)
