As a BI Developer, you will join a Kunai team to design a data ecosystem and build an integrated Tableau based reporting solution that provides actionable intelligence for a prestigious investment firm. Your responsibilities will focus on collaborating with cross-functional teams to analyze and integrate diverse data sources, ensuring data quality and consistency. You will develop and optimize data pipelines, support advanced data modeling, and provide actionable insights through sophisticated reporting tools by leveraging your expertise in database management, data processing, and analytics. As a member of the core technology team, you will partner with other technologists to design and implement a sustainable long-term strategy that facilitates outstanding results and rapid scale.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop new enterprise business intelligence (Tableau) service offerings, content creation, and value propositions to support and improve Government business processes.
- Collaborate with end users to identify needs and opportunities for improved data management and delivery.
- Provide ongoing development and maintenance of an operational data store and enterprise data warehouse using BI best practices, relational structures, dimensional data modeling, structured query language skills, data warehouse and reporting techniques.
- Improve and streamline processes regarding data flow and data quality to improve data accuracy, viability and value.
- Provide ongoing development and maintenance of a BI architecture that enables fact-based decision making and ad-hoc analysis and insight generation.
- Provide interactive real-time dashboards and key performance indicators using Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx, or newly identified BI tools.
- Provide end-user support and encourage user adoption. Act as Tier 1 support for end-users of BI tools. Train end-users on basic functionality. Direct users to training material and available resources.
- Under general direction, responsible for converting business requirements and high-level data collection needs into well-specified analyses, reporting and visualizations.
- Gathers BI requirements, design solutions and works with developers on their delivery. Utilizes selected platforms including Snowflake, SQL Server, Tableau, Alteryx etc, to successfully deploy business intelligence solutions to satisfy information requirements.
- Ability to query and display large data sets while maximizing the performance of tableau workbook.
- Perform data extraction/acquisition using multiple databases and querying languages (preferred) for the purpose of creating reporting results to the end user
- Ensure accuracy of data by following and building process documentation
- Execute data inquiries, analyze data and identify trends
- Analyze a process to document current state and propose future state
- Develop re-usable processes that can be leveraged and standardized for multiple instances
Qualification and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- 7+ years of relevant experience
- 5+ years of Tableau experience
- Experience using other common BI tools including Alteryx and Microsoft Power BI
- Design, develop, validate, and troubleshoot the workflows and datasets in Alteryx for analysis, forecasting, and report delivery
- Demonstrated ETL skills using Alteryx to address data quality, data completeness and data management issues
- Translate business logic from one system (Excel, SQL, etc.) into Alteryx in a quick and accurate manner
- Hands-on experience with SQL database design
- Solid understanding of SQL, data warehousing concepts, relational database management system, data modeling, and normalization
- Experience working with Python
- Must have high-level written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to interpret technical or dashboard structure and translate complex business requirements to technical specifications
- Experience with Snowflake data warehouses a plus
