Business Development Lead, Sightline

Verily Life Sciences is seeking a Business Development Lead to build on Verily’s strategic partnerships and initiatives within the Sightline portfolio. Reporting to the Head of Business Development, you will join the team responsible for sourcing and interacting directly with prospective partners/collaborators, helping them partner with Verily on innovative healthcare technologies.  You will work cross functionally within each Verily Commercial Team and with various teams and colleagues across Verily. This role will require you to be flexible and nimble and aggressively grow the SIghtline business to help establish Verily as the premier solution.

Responsibilities

  • Join a team of Business Development Leads charged with identifying, negotiating and closing critical external partnerships/collaborations, working across Verily’s lines of business and consistent with the business development strategy and objectives; gain key internal stakeholder support; and collaborate with Verily’s cross-functional teams to drive growth.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the different lines of business, particularly the Sightline portfolio, and emerging products across Verily. Use key partnership learnings to help inform areas for investment. Manage how the market perceives the company and how new partners/collaborators are perceived within Verily.
  • Develop, manage and own a robust prospect pipeline, KPIs and outcomes. Communicate well and partner effectively with Business Development management on opportunities and obstacles. 
  • Work closely with finance, legal, product management, marketing, science and engineering across a range of transaction types, including collaborations, joint ventures and multi-party agreements. Evaluate opportunities, conduct due diligence, negotiate agreement terms and present recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Work with Business Development leadership to define strategic requirements for partnership opportunities, determine appropriateness and operational fit with existing strategy; develop, nurture and manage partnership pipeline.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications

  • MBA or other advanced degree and 10+ years of experience working in a business development role with specific experience within environmental, public health, or related markets.
  • Deal sheet with a proven record of strategic and revenue generating partnerships and collaborations, demonstrating a track record of managing and closing transactions. 
  • Proven track record of working with cross-functional teams to achieve company objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to simultaneously lead multiple deals and complex deal structures with strong strategic and analytical skill and ability to drive exploration into new and emerging areas in healthcare, public health, and environmental markets. 
  • Experience leading complex operational and strategic initiatives across various geographies.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead from deal inception to successful long-term partnership using creative problem solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in regulated environments and in managing and structuring partnerships and long-term alliances in healthcare, public health, environmental, or other related healthcare verticals.
  • Distinctive problem-solving and analytical skills, combined with impeccable business judgment and cross-functional management capabilities.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing, startup-like environment with effective project management, relationship-building and negotiation skills. 
  • Experience presenting and delivering succinct messages to senior-level internal and external audiences.
  • Experience developing term sheets and agreements and effectively managing the deal development process.
  • Comfort with ambiguity, with a desire to help cross-functional teams achieve clarity and alignment.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $154,000-$218,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
