Associate General Counsel, Regulatory & Privacy Officer

We are seeking an experienced and talented attorney to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will play a critical role assisting the General Counsel to build the Legal function, developing legal processes and workflows, and providing guidance to senior leaders on complex legal issues. This role requires a strong understanding of (or demonstrated interest in) healthcare law, exceptional judgment and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Job Duties

  • Provide legal guidance and support on a wide range of healthcare-related matters, including regulatory compliance and HIPAA-related matters
  • Stay up-to-date with healthcare laws and regulations, ensuring organizational compliance with federal, state, and local laws
  • Develop and implement compliance policies and procedures
  • Assess legal risks and provide strategic advice to mitigate potential liabilities
  • Assist with managing outside counsel
  • Assist in preparation of board and committee presentations and other materials

  • Travel Requirements

  • Travel 10-25%, including overnight travel

  • Required Education, Experience, Certifications and Skills

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
  • 5+ years’ legal experience, with preference for candidates with healthcare law experience
  • Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, including HIPAA, Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute, and Medicaid compliance
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and changing work environment (prior experience in a SaaS startup or similar environment preferred)
  • Comfortable working independently and communicating with executives and senior management

  • The base salary range for this US-based, full-time, and exempt position is $150,000-$180,000, not including variable compensation. An employee’s exact starting salary will be based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, merit, location, and the ability to exemplify the HHAeXchange core values.
     
    This is a benefits-eligible position. HHAeXchange offers competitive health plans, paid time-off, company paid holidays, 401K retirement program with a Company elected match, including other company sponsored programs.
